If this same logic is true, and if in fact a fake ruler overthrew Gyousou, in order to get the people of Tai to believe him, wouldn't Taiki need to be there? Why slash his horn off, and possibly try to kill him?
The impression I got was that it was supposed to be an execution. When the emperor of ...

I replayed my Vol one dvd and didnt notice any difference, what was in mono? Listen to the creditless opening and pay attention to the places where the sound moves to the left or right (it can be subtle in some parts). Now go play the opening from one of the episodes. That directionality is gone ...

My understanding was that Youko was able to understand the language because she is a Taika. I would think that, too, but that conflicts with the aforementioned statement made by the teacher, unless he was wrong or was actually referring to kaikyaku in general. And knowing languages isn't an innate ...

Are you sure that is after he knew he pledged her? What i read about it is that youko was human untill about 10 min into the anime where keiki askes her to accept. As soon as she accepts she signs her own imortallity contract and becomes the empress and imortal. She has not been crowned yet but she ...

Yay, disc 2 is here
Thanks, Amazon.
As with the first, the cover design is pretty darn nice. The art this time is Youko sitting down, Suiguutou covered, with Rakushun carrying a sack with his parasol. It comes with another liner notes sheet like the first one. The extra for this disc is the textless closing.

Re: Traditional China and JK: Parallels
Thank you very much for the explanation. It's always interesting to hear about the inspirations for this show's mythology.
I think I'll save this thread, too, just in case.

Re: the importance of sin in 12k
If this is just an epic adventure dictated by the author then the conditional nature of sin is moot. However, if the author means to produce an allegory of human survival by exploring the possible outcomes of civilization with Tentei as the symbol of natural law, ultimate yet distant, then the ...

What I want to know is how Taiki can have any control over Gouran if his horn is cut; re:Keiki's sealed horn, he wouldn't be able to control his powers at all, right? Re: Bliss or sin?
Both apply when it comes to rank structure. If God is a Monarch that implies physical presence and access to God in the world far more than US Federal power which is more slow and intangeable - more like 12k Tentei. Is not Tentei severely weakened by having to go through others to act on the world ...

Re: Sin, or not sin...
Kind of like Federal law and State law in the US. But like States, the emperor is the enforcer of both sets of laws and left to judge over them in the here and now. It's more like a monarch and dukes/counts/barons of provinces. In the States, the federal government's jurisdiction is intentionally ...

But what I find crazy is that the title is "Juuni Kokki" "Twelve Kingdoms" not Yoko, a day in the life of. I mean come on what a lame excuse, not maintaining the POV of Yoko... as in the story (i am a sucker for conspiracy) Not really. If you hook people in with a certain main character for an ...

I would have thought staying away from her old world of Wa would have been harder on her. However, it all seemed to be played out well. She didn't really have anything tying her to her old life. I can only assume that they want to end the series on the Taiki arc to provide the strongest connection to Youko. They could fill in the rest with other arcs, but if they ended on a random "The Tale of the Kingdom of (blah)," then people might feel that the story just trailed off and got lost in ...

Re: where can I find pictures of that hellhound?
You're going to have to be a bit more specific, and the answer is probably, "Screenshots are your best bet," since there isn't a whole lot of Juuni Kokki art readily available. Perhaps someone with the artbooks can correct me.

Re: Bad news - second season of JK ending at 45
I can only hope that the fact that they're willing to rerun the series again means that they've extracted promises from the author to finish more stories so they can continue. Also, that there are enough rabid fans over there to go beat down their doors if they decide to cancel it, so that I don't ...

Calendar confusion
A post over at AnimeOnDVD mentioned that PlanetAnime has a listing of 2004 calendars up. They have two Juuni Kokki calendars. Anyone have any idea what each of them are? This one is listed on Amazon.co.jp, while there's no clue where this one came from, or what it is, except that it's $6 cheaper.
