I hope this translation is better than the Shadow of the moon. Man, that's one sucks. I much prefer fan's translations.

To Jinx999: yes, the people who the emperor made immortal does not age but we are talking about kirin, not people.

I agree with Endah on Kourin. That part on the anime didn't suit me either. Considering when Renrin saw Taiki tried to commit suicide, the first thing she said was "you can not die. If you die, he will die". The ruler is everything to the kirin. I just can see a kirin would do such a thing.
As for ...

Carmolita, you sure know a lot about JK :)! I was wondering why Gekkei would kill Hourin. So that is why - she chose 2 bad rulers on the roll. Poor Hourin! She just did what Tentei wanted her to do.

keiki crying when he found out the girl that youko was staying with was dead.
I must miss this ...

To Carmolita: So in case of Enki Rokuta if En-ou died, he has 17 years to find another ruler? Enki matured at the at of 13 and at the same time he found En-ou. What happen if he was to find En-ou at 13 but not mature until 20? Did the clock stop at 13 or 20 for him?

I think that after a ruler dies, the clock get reset and they have another 30 years to find a new one or they are Youma's dinner!

You may be right. I was thinking that may be while they serve the rulers the clock stops. But my thinking seem to have flaw because kirin do age even if they found and ...

Kirin life span

This is something I have been wondering about. The book said that the kirin life span is 30 years and that once the kirin mature their appearance won't change. The previous Enki couldn't find a ruler and died at 30 years old. Rokuta looks like a 13 years old but live for 500 years. Keiki is about ...

endah,
Thank you for the link I found the site and following the translation. Like you, I don't like to think that king-kirin relationship as master-slave relationship. Kirins are representative of the land and people, to treat one as such is not wise. At least En-ou and Han-ou, the two long reign ...

What's your take on King/Queen and Kirin relationship

I'm new with 12 Kingdoms and after watched all the anime (a few times) and read all the current fan base translation books, I would say their relationship is like a marriage (without the sex part of course :)). As in a marriage, they need to be connected, be honest, care and love the other. However ...

I would have to put En - ou as the best character in Twelve Kingdoms. As his Ribi said " he reflects when it's time to reflect and he acts when it's time to act". He is wise and cares for his people a great deal. Yet he still knows how to not take things too seriously and enjoys life. Seriously, to ...
