Yes, Lyn they are inmortal, but only as long as they are serving a ruler. In the books it is said that they have a 30 years lifespan, meaning that they have that much to find a ruler to serve. I think that after a ruler dies, the clock get reset and they have another 30 years to find a new one or ...

Sorry YoukoFanboy but what you said about Kirin picking only one ruler then dying and Keiki being an acception is wrong. The reason is that at least one other Kirin has also lost a previous ruler and that is Sairin. She lost her first ruler and had contracted Shitsudou but for some reason she lived ...

I too believe that meeting Rakushun could have been pre-destined. In the final analysis, she has free will to choose the path, in this case she fortunally chose the right one, but it could easily go the other way. In the hero's journey, this concept is always presented, the hero must make a choice ...

I think is like free will that is no free will at all. Sure, the kirin gives you a choice, but if you dont accept, the poor kirin may die and you along with him/her... so is no free will at all...right?

I agree that one of the pivotal point (not the most pivotal point thou) in the book that helped on the transformation will be Rakushun. However, Rakushun only show her the path towards the light. In the end, it is still up to her to believe in it, have faith and follow the path of light ...

I believe the best description is said in the anime: "the other half". They are the ying and yang, both complement the other. If you recall, when Keiki and Enki are explaining to Taiki about the Ouki (which btw, why didnt Keiki explained it like that from the begining and spared poor Taiki ...

I agree, but in a way that came to be because of Rakushun. The monkey (as you point out ) is herself and she gather the strenght to fight that "dark side" (i love star wars too LOL) after been expose to unadultareted {sic} kindness in Rakushun.
