I believe the world of Twelve Kingdoms wasn't created based on any physical or natural principles of the real world. It's much easier to see it as what it is without asking why, coz our minds are limited by what we've learned.

definitely Queen Kyou. She is sooo wise and smart in a very direct way, and have a very strong heart. She is clearly not spoiled. She won't let herself lose the eyes of justice. If you've read the Tonan No Tsubasa, u know what I mean.

I don't think that is Taiki. Actually, I think he is the second prince of Sou. He appeared in Tonan no Tsubasa and played a role in helping Kyou-ou ascend Mt Hou.
