I guess it is considered the first. From what I hear she wrote it as a horror story, then later wrote a book about Taiki and Demon Child was then incorporated into the series. But I also understand that the end of Demon Child when Takasato is taken away was rewritten differently in "The Shore in Twilight the Sky in Daybreak". But I guess we'll find out for sure.
I think it should actually come after reading the "The Shore of the Maze" since it is about a teenage Takasato who was missing for a year as a child and now seems to be cursed.
This is how I would try to read them (if I could), but maybe not how others would - they might read Demon Child first...
1. "Shore of the Maze" (10 year old Kaname Takasato finds out he is really Taiki.)
2. "Demon Child" (16 year old Kaname Takasato has been living a cursed life and is rescued and taken to another world)
3. "Shore in Twilight" (How Kaname Takasato rescuers rescued him, and he resturns as Taiki)

Doesn't "Shore of the Maze" come after Youko's first arc? I'm not sure if Youko appears or not because I have only watched the anime.
"Shore of the Maze" comes before Youko. Remember - Youko and Taiki are the same age. So in Horai 10 year Youko is still in 4th grade and 10 year old Taiki has just been transported to Mt. Hou.

Oh, okay. Gosh, I'm so uneducated in this. So, is there a thread already stating which book was published first, or which order they should be read in? If not, could someone please enlighten me (or direct me to the correct spot)?

There's a FAQ? I know there is a list of the translations being done, but I don't see a FAQ. I think it's just me, adjusting to the new sites (cuz I'm an idiot that's bad with computers). Sorry.
the faq link is posted sumwer here...i think the link to the faq is posted on ...errrmm....sumwer on a thread where the novel translations are linked...

Thank you very very much. I honestly really appreciate it. I've already order the books so they'll be coming in (while I enjoy the Chinese websites). Soon, I shall have them within my grasps.
Can anybody enlighten me as to where can I order the books "Demon Child" and "Shore in Twilight" in Chinese? I'm getting impatient waiting for the English translations. I'm prepared to try reading Chinese. This is going to be torture. Is there an easier way to read the novels?
I tried reading, I almost had to cut and paste every word into the online dictionary. However, I am still not able to understand some paragraphs. The language structures describing political and military plots are too complex. It is easier to read French than Chinese. It is not impossible for me to read the novels in Chinese, but I'm feeling the pain of this torture.
