Forum Newbie needs info

Sorry to be clueless but have to start somewhere.
Registration Probs - signed on under my main email but got mssg saying error so I ditched all info. Tried reg again but says email is regd but I can't remember the name or password I used then. Any way to clear that email address and info? Seems this current reg is okay.
Forums - when are most people on? Is there a forum newbie FAQ?
Who can answer silly Qs like these w/out being annoyed?
