Aw man that scene where that little boy died was unbearable for me. It was so sad!

It may have put him out of his suffering but I still think it was so sad!

It was a very sad but good scene.

This is one of the rare scenes that always brings me to tears, even after the 7th or so watching.
Everything clicked on this scene on the Japanese dub. The circumstances that led to this tragic scene. The wail of Suzu's voice actress. And, not least of all, the cry of the flute and the sobbing of the violins in the background music. All of this came together in an incredible climax.
If you want the song, it's Track #6 on the Kokyu Memories soundtrack, named "Ruika". This is the only spot this song plays at, as far as I can tell.
This scene is actually is actually one of my few complaints of the English dub. The voice actress's sobbing didn't have the "punch in the gut" effect that the Japanese actress's cry did. Only real blemish that I can see from the English dub, but bad enough that I can't watch the series in English anymore...
Which is a damn shame, because I've found the English dub to be otherwise very good.

Looks like I'm not completely correct about that song. It at least plays in the first episode of the second arc when Sanshi is born (with just the acoustic guitar and the flute. The kokyus track is silent here.
It also plays in the third episode when Taiki is talking to Keiki in the grass field, just before Keiki shows his animal form to the child. Sounds like it's only the acoustic guitars until a flashback to Suzu's little outburst on Mount Hou, at which the flute starts playing.
Also just comfirmed that "Ruika" is the song that plays in Episode 30 after the kid is killed. Complete with with acoustic guitars and two kokyus in a duet framing the scene, and the flute just coming on as Suzu starts crying. This is the only time I hear the kokyus for this particular song.
Maybe I'm overanalyzing this, but I find it fascinating to reverse-engineer how these powerful scenes are setup. Plus the song is incredibly beautiful. On the Kokyu Memories soundtrack, it includes some percussion that doesn't play in the series that I can tell.
And yes, I did cry a tear watching that scene again...

I really want that track-no that CD. I've got a JK sountrack but I think it's before Kokyu Memories.

Well, you can try obtaining it from animecastle.com (direct link:
http://www.animecastle.com/catalog/musi ... racks.html ), like I did.
I highly recommend trying to buying these CDs. They are, IMO, worth it. But I am a sucker for excellent orchestral and piano music.

Gah! This song is all over the third arc!
Only the guitar part plays in all of the preview after the closing credits. It was pretty hard to notice, but it's there.
The song also plays when Youko is announcing her ordinance at the end of Episode 39. Guitars, kokyus, and flute plays here.
Add: It's all over the fourth arc too! Ack! I give up! I surrender!
I guess it was linked so well in my mind in that scene that I just never noticed it anywhere else. Actually, the music in this entire series really does tend to stay in the background and enhances mood.

lol. Yeah-so true. That's just like the music with the violin and the flute-It plays on most of the DVD's when you're selecting what audio format you want or when your selecting chapters- I thought it only came in during the rise of the rebellion but when I went back and watched the DVDs for the umpteenth time I was shocked to find that it plays often during Taiki's story.
And as a side note, I checked out that link and now I'm trying not to explode with my desire to have three of the four advertised (The first one's the one I have) CDs because I have no money. I'm going crazy not having them in my possession!
