Anyone planning on attending an anime convention this summer? I'm looking forward to CNanime at the end of August. If I could I'd love to cosplay for once but I never have the time or the money to make a costume... -_-

Oi...

Seriously, mediablasters needs to network more at cons. You always come across ADV and Geneon-or whatever it's calling itself but I never see a mediablaster's booth...

We must spread the word!

Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lex Lang why can't you be in Toronto at CNanime!?

I used to have a website for Magic Knight Rayearth, and had a page devoted to him because of the voice work he did and he actually emailed me and congradulated me for my tribute to him and his character Lantis...

As far as English voice actor's go, I think he's pretty darn good. ^-^

Mmmm I can't tell you about the cons in USA or Europe. I'm from South America, and in my country (Argentina) we don't have so many cons but one year and a half ago I went to two cons in Brazil and they were soooo coool!!! In a con you can find a lot of things, you can see movies and the best of all (for me at least ^^) is Cosplay *_*

I would like to know more about these conventions. What can we see in these conventions, who attends these cons, is there an entrance fee, must we register early to attend? Are they held all over the world in different cities? What about Japan, are there cons there? When and where is the next con in North America?

hmmm, I would love to visit Japan one day.

I was watching BBC and they announced the cartoon museum in the UK, I think its in London. I wonder if Japan has an anime museum.

As for what you can hope to see at an anime convention, they usually have a couple viewing rooms that show either anime classics or the last hits.

many cons have anime music video competitions which you can submit to if not, view.

How to draw ____ sessions, voice acting 101-learn what's necessary to be successful in VA or comicking...

Fanfiction contest: Not all cons have this but I find the more fan based cons do.

Panel session: Directors, mangaka, voice actors (both english and Japenese) Talk about their work and take questions from fans.

Shopping area (dealers room): sometimes you can get some amazingly sweet deals on manga and anime in this section. ^-^

Artist Alley: Fan artists and aspiring comickers rent floor space to either sell or or show off their artwork-ranges from original work to fanart to the occasional (english) doujinshi

Masquerade: Fans dress up as their favorite characters and preform little skits infront of other fans.

There are other events but every con is different, some have less activities than others. Many Contests have submission deadlines long before the actual convention itself.

Most cons have an entry fee. (Between $15-$50, depending on whether you're using US or Canadian currency and whether it's a full blown, three day convention or just a mini con.)

I don't know much about JPN cons but I hear they're very corperate, very taxing on speakers.

Thanks for the info.

Tentatively, I am able to attend the Toronto Anime North Con in May, I have a tentative business trip to Toronto during that time. However, if my trip suddenly gets cancelled, I won't attend.
