Hi Yuene,
yeh........more people will be able to watch the series, there would be new fans and renewed interest. Arts Central is really supportive! I won't be able to watch it because I'm not in Singapore. I don't even have my 12 k series with me here.
Nightchaser posted a paragraph of Chinese text in the thread "Shore at Twilight" asking you to translate. I have translated it but can you verify if I'm accurate?
I studied simplified Chinese (mandarin) as a second language for 12 years in Singapore but never passed a single test or exam for the subject. In Toronto Canada, they use traditional Chinese (cantonese). I need someone to verify if I'm off the mark with the translation.
Thanks

While i don't live anywhere near Singapore or Malaysia, it's still good to hear about such news.

I love the series! Managed to buy the vcds - it was among the last set available in the store. Does anyone know if the books are available on sale in Singapore?

No idea, but certain Comics Connection outlets stock quite a few Chinese translations of Japanese novels. (I know the one in Bedok does, anyway, so you could try your luck there.)

I don't find our local subs that great either. Most of the time, the English is okay - barring some annoying grammatical errors - but it doesn't help that some of the subs are cropped from the edges of the TV screen.
You say the VCD subs are different? Are they better, or worse?

i've read complaints elsewhere abt the poor english subtitles on the vcds. in my case, the vcds had jap & chinese dialogues, so I tuned in to the chinese dialogue and with the english subtitles i could understand & catch what was happening. subtitles-wise, in my opinion, gives only a pretty general overview to the dialogue. and yes, theres the occasional grammar errors.

The Arts Central subs in the first arc were atrocious, honestly, though they're pretty decent in the Taiki arc. I haven't watched the vcds yet. Anyway, I'm holding out for the US boxset release, the subs there ought to be somewhat better. Lousy subs really eat at me

If you're having trouble getting the DVDs for cheap, try ebay, I got the whole series (US distribution) for a total of $35. It was neat because all six DVDs were in one case.

You're right. I bought the whole set of VCD when I was in Singapore some time ago, it was not cheap and the image quality on the VCDs could be better. The subtitles were also not that good. I checked on Ebay.com and found that it's cheaper to buy Code 1 DVDs from ebay.com because after paying for the shipping and taxes, the final cost is less than the full VCD set!
Silly as this may sound, I now admit I've lost my original set.

I'm now thinking of replacing my lost VCD set with code 1 DVDs. I move constantly without a fixed home and moving with all these DVDs can be a burden.

I bought a multi-region DVD player so I could play DVD's I bought in England. You could probably do the same for Asian DVD's...

Hi, is the 12 kingdoms series still airing in Singapore's Art's Central? How's the viewership like? Are more people watching it? What is the other anime that is being aired?
I found my VCD box set, I left it in Singapore with a friend and she sent it to me! I'm so happy I don't have to buy the region 1 DVDs after spending so much money on the VCDs!
