Houki in China?

Post by Yume Li »

Just wondering, did anyone think that Houki might be in China?

Yeah - apparently that is the prevailing view in Japan. Eugene Woodbury on his site said as much - he can read Japanese. Since the shoku came from the east it probably blew him to China, as opposed to a shoku that would blow from the west that goes to Japan. Also, apparently he was already "hatched" and about a year old when it happened. Remenber Kyou-ou who said "There is no sign of Houki who supposedly had already been born." But - when the kirin were searching for Taiki they split into two groups, one would search Japan (using Kei as a base) and one would search China (using Sou as a base). We only see the story as it takes place in Kei with a few comments about the search from Sou. But - there is no mention that anyone saw the kirin's aura in China. If Houki was there wouldn't they have seen him? However, I wonder about that because people move around a lot. Think about this... a one-year-old boy is found abandonded in China and is adopted, then moved to another country (either his new parents weren't Chinese, or they were professionals who emigrated or took a job in another country). What would happen then? China is, admittedly a very large country (bigger than the US), but the entire planet is much larger. Of course, they had a lot of trouble finding Taiki too. They didn't find him until he was ten years old, compared to Rokuta who was four when he was found. Could Houki be another black kirin? The books mention that there can also be red and white kirin also. That would be cool...
