Does anyone know the significance of a water drop falling in a pool? I have seen it in many different anime's. I finally thought that maybe it means something in Japan or perhaps buddism?

Hmm.....this action/ scene has a lot meanings...
Reflection, pensive mood, actions that would have repercussions...like a drop of water and the resulting ripples.
Close your eyes, feel its meaning for you.
or
it could just be a nice break in the scene with no meaning whatsoever for that particular anime.

Hm... I've never really thought too much about that but I think Tahki has the right idea. It definately has dramatic and artistic purpose. Perhaps or most simply it is an indicator that something of great significance to said series is about to follow...

I believe it's supposed to represent the destruction of harmony, or peace, and the difference that one change can make
In japanese when a droplet hits the water and cuases a ripple effect it's called 波紋 and the secondary definition of it is "the change and effect that follows after"
So the dramatization of this in the anime would (i guess) mean that there is change that follows or the ball has begun rolling and you can't stop it.
