I've reading the online translations for over a year now. Its a good website. I'm not sure if anyone else has seen it. But I thought I'd share. //www.ear-tweak.com/iy_manga/index.htm

Thanks Shannon. Sigh! Reading may be my only option because I don't have access to the series beyond episode 102 here. I won't be able to see Shesshomaru or listen to the music by just reading but its better than nothing.
I first took notice of Inuyasha because the orchestral compositions captured my attention. I love Kaoru Wada's compositions and choice of instruments. Western and oriental, modern and classical. I just love the way he uses drums and flutes across culture and time.

Yeah, the music is great. I started watching the anime on Cartoon Network a four years ago. Then I bought the manga novels. The series is very close to coming to an end. All they have is the shards in Kouga's legs and the one in Kohaku's back. I am very interested in how they will destory Naraku. Kikyo wants to make the jewel whole and then purify it. It will be interesting to see if Inuyasha can kill Naraku by destroying his heart(the baby) first.

I love the artist from eartweak! the only problem with her Inuyasha manga is that the older ones aren't up (last time I look) and most of them aren't scanned. But hey, the site is adorable!

the anime series ends, however, the manga is still being written. The tv series doesn't finish things off,

, so I'm waiting for the mangas to be translated. The Tv series leaves off around volume 38

Yes, the anime did end awhile ago. The manga is what I was referring to as ending soon also. Especially, since there are only three shards left. I'm sure it will take another year for the manga to end. There are alot of loose ends to tie up.

Okay - I moved Inu-Yasha up on my Netflix queue to rent right away so you guys better not be pulling my leg about how good it is

Or I'll sic my pet Youma on you. Well, he thinks he's a youma. He's actually a cat. But he howls loud enough to be a youma...
Really, I'm looking forward to seeing it

Inuyasha is good, keep watching and it grows on you. I'd recommend movies 1 and 3 as well.
I am not eager for IY to end. I watch it slowly when I have the time and if I can get hold of the episodes. It is relaxing and funny. I don't mind if it never ends.
I am hooked on IY orchestral compositions and background music. The scores are so good, they're not even funny.

Okay - I watched the first 4 disks over the weekend. It probably is one of those things that "Grows on you". I am definately going to watch the rest of the disks. Netflix has 39 disks (ep. 117).
My favorite moments:
Kikyou bringing her bike back to feudal Japan
Kikyou filling her backpack with toothpaste, shampoo, and instant noodles.
Inuyasha in denial about liking Kikyou.
"Sit, boy"
Kikyou and her autograph book
She can go back and forth to in time in her well.
Inuyasha goes off to rescue Kikyou, bringing her bike and backpack along with him (how thoughtful).
Annoying:
The peasants keep saying "ye". Sometimes it fits grammatically, but usually it doesn't.
I think Kikyou is too mean sometimes to Inuyasha.

errrrrr.....nightchaser,,,,are you mixed up between Kagome and Kikyo? Kagome is the girl from modern Japan, Kikyo is the priestess guarding the shards.
I'm a Kagome fan. "SIT BOY" is the most powerful weapon making Kagome the most powerful girl. The man holding the Tetsusaiga obeys her flat on the face! BOOM! Even Youko can't do that with Keiki or can she?

Yes I'm mixed up... Kagome is the 15 yo girl... I'll remember that (for a couple hours). Don't know why I'm so bad with names.

Maybe after 39 disks I'll get it right
I think Youko could do that with Keiki. Remember he has to follow her orders no matter what. If she said "When I say 'sit, boy' you land on your face" he would have to do it. Frankly, I could see En-ou doing some silly thing like that with Rokuta just to tease him... But Youko would think it undignified

What happened to Kagome's father? They talk a lot about everyone else's family (I'm up to ep 15 I think), but never Kagome. Anyway, just wondering...

I get the impression that he died, but I'm not 100% certain about that. They don't talk much about him in the series

I don't recall anything about Kagome's father.
I'm interested in Sesshomaru's mother. Very little is known about her.

So Jamanji the half-demon herbalist thinks 7-year-old Rin looks like 15-year-old Kagomi. And Kagomi is a dead ringer for Kikyou. Interesting... I'm sure this isn't going anywhere as a plot device, but still, it's like Sesshomaru now has his own little "Kagomi/Kikyou". We'll probably never know why... But I wonder - could Rin be Kagomi's distant grandmother? Just conjecture.

Hi,
IY is too long. It has characters and themes that are well developed, simple enough for a child to understand, deep enough for adults to appreciate, but 167 episodes is too long! I feel that after episode 120, the author seems to stope developing on the themes and instead we see a lot of messy fighting between the band of 7 and IY. The love triangle between IY, Kikyo and Kagome is beginning to get boring. The series seems to go down hill after episodes 110+.
I like the way Rumiko sensei develope Naraku/Onigumi. He is one of the most respectable villains I've seen.
I don't want him to die. If he dies, he must die well. For example, it would be so romantic to have Kikyo kill him and then die with him or for Kikyo to die protecting Naraku from Inuyasha.
I can dream of this ending right?
Sesshomaru lost his heart to a mortal girl without knowing it! Rin is good at catching fish. I think Rin is like Kagome but Kagome is unable to fish like Rin.

I'm very jeolous of Rin!
I like the scences when IY goes to modern Japan to visit Kagome. I would be very sad if in the end IY ends up with Kikyo instead of Kagome.
The verse that made me cry was:
Sango's father to Sango: "I trained you very hard from young not because I want you take over the business but because I want you to be safe, to live strongly and happily..."
later Sango reiterated this to two orphan girls explaining that this is what every father wants for their daughter. My father died when I was little and this answered my question as to what my father would say to me if he were alive. I also understand Sesshomaru's question "Why father...?"
So, now you know why I like IY so much! I would not rank Sesshomaru favourite amongst my favourite characters for no good reason.

I doubt Kikyo and Inu-yasha will get together. Kikyou is dead and her body made of clay. When she was bought back by the witch Urasuea(episodes 13 & 14) her soul was reincarnated in Kagome. Only a small fraction remains in Kikyou, she has to use dead maiden's souls for her body to move. (episodes 22 & 24) In the early episodes, Kaede states that Kikyou is not for this world, and wishes for her and Inuyasha to dies together. Even though now she has Midoriko's soul in her, the author would somehow have to her become human(have flesh again). She already came back as Kagome(reincarantion)even though they are different people, same soul. Kikyou asks Inu-yasha if he is repulsed by her stealing souls in order to maintain her clay body. He says he doesn't care about her apearance, its her soul he loves. I could be wrong but it would be hard to pull off to have Kikyou end up being Kagome's great, great grandmother or something.

Thanks Shannon, sigh. That is assuring. I watched IY up until episode 120. I'm not sure if Kikyo comes back to life after episode 120. From what I read in some fan forums, it seems she actually comes back to life. If true, she will be a menace to Kagome. She won't give up her grip on her lover dead or alive. Interesting to watch Naraku and Kikyo when they are together.
Kikyo: Are you not going to kill me?
Naraku: No, I am scared of you.

I was wondering about Rin being her grandmother, not Kikyou

But I did find it interesting that the three girls resemble each other. Kikyou and Kagome I can understand, but Rin's resemblence is a mystery which is why I wondered if they could be related.

I've actually only watched up to episode 50. I've been reading the manga. After they caught up to the manga, they started doing filler episodes. (Not all the episodes were filler) Which were't as good as the manga, becasue Rumiko Takahashi(author) didn't write them. Yes, I agree she has repeated storylines and themes. But Kikyou had gotten injured by Naruko and Kagome healed the wound. But the manga which the anime follows, didn't have her come back to life in that sense. I think some people get confused because of the various storylines. One thought I had is if Inu-yasha stays in his time or dies, Kagome was reincarated. Maybe she will find him in her time period as a reincarnation. After all, if its about being soul mates. Its hard to say.

This is just a feeling I get. Initially episodes 1-60 is family oriented, meaning, a family (young and old) can sit and enjoy the anime together. Later, after episode 120+, Inuyasha's language become very vulgar. He shouts, curses and swears almost each time he opens his mouth. It's like the non stop fighting and his extreme hatred for Naraku is driving him mad. The episodes seem to target the young adult male audience (age 13-18). However, the author or producer fail to realise that even young adults want substance in addition to brutal action. Young adults are adults and they can be very critical. Inuyasha's language after episode 130+ is harmful to children.
I like the episode when they were fighting Naraku in his father's tomb. Ghost's last question to Inuyasha was very significant.
Ghost: "So you prefer to continue fighting instead of guarding what you have?"
Inuyasha: "Yes"
Later Sango repeated this to Miroku in a very sad way. I think Inuyasha should learn how to stop fighting. He disturbed the peace of his father's tomb and damaged his resting place, this is something very unacceptable in Chinese and Japanese culture. He did that because of his hatred for Naraku and the sacred shards. Why does he hate Naraku so much? Kikyo hates Naraku as well, but she is full of self control and I think deep down in her heart, she still believes that Naraku/Onigumi can be saved.
If I were Inuyasha's mother, I'd give him a
big spanking. First for disturbing his father's resting place, second for his bad language, third for falling in love with a dead woman. The last is the most serious, he could die with her.
I like Shannon's idea of Kagome finding Inuyasha in her own time. That would be so sweet.

I agree - Inuyasha does seem to be loosing control. More and more it appears that Sesshomaru shows up to reign his brother in and correct him instead of trying to kill him like in the first few episodes. Also, Inuyasha seems to be getting more and more eager to fight before understanding the situation. It's "fight first and ask questions later - oh wait, they're all dead, forget the questions who can I kill next." Miroku and Sango do a good job of reigning him in too. Kagome - I'm not sure she's much of an influence on him. She is very emotional, and oddly enough Sesshomaru seems to listen to her. He always backs down when she intervenes - like he seems to know she will put him back on track. But he doesn't stay on track for very long.
I still have a lot more episodes to watch, and I've started reading the manga summaries on line. It seems that only Sesshomaru, Kagura and Sango's little brother grow in character. Inuyasha is becoming more aggressive. The other characters seem to remain the same.
