Hirose or Yuka?

Which do you prefer? Hirose or Yuka?

I like Hirose better. Yuka wants to find out about Takasato, but at the same time she wants him to forget the past (but at the same time she knows he is Taiki). Hirose seems to want to help Takasato and wants him to be happy, and seems to be encouraging him to try to remember.

Plus - you gotta wonder about the anime - I mean, Hirose has Takasato stay at his house. How would they have handled that with Yuka? Probably be bit difficult to write into the script ("Hey mom/dad this boy who has a curse is going to be staying with us for a while, and by they way he is the same age I am" doesn't seem like it would go down to well with most parents). It makes me wonder if at that point in the script writing that they just decided they would not be animating the rest of the story and stuck in Yuka instead of introducing a new character (which would require more drawing design and another voice actor). I guess I am wondering if Yuka was a cop-out by the production team.

Well,i would like to see Hirose included into the story as the helpfull Teacher he is and Yuka just playing kinda of and observer/helping role outside...maybe with helping the search-team finding Taiki and getting him back.
to be honest i don't realy want Yuka at all to play a very big role in this arc if they ever decidet to continue the anime..Hirose cannot be replaced by Yuka...
At least that is what i think, especialy after reading the latest chapters of the novel..hirose seems to be somewhat special in his own way

I can see the anime having Yuka moved out from her familyhouse. She is, I think, a school year or two older than Taiki. So it could be like she 'hosts' him in her apartment.

Also I can see Hirose worked in too, and YUka and Hirose working together to help Taiki out. Personally I think there's no way Yuka be cut out of the script IF they finish the Taiki story in Anime. They've already had her contact Sanshi (or sanshi contact her)
PLUS sanshi asked "are you the king's enemy" which is the same thing she asked Hirose in the novels.. so maybe yuka IS the replacement??

*sigh* *whispers* Ono-sensei...

That would be an interesting angle - Hirose as a teacher who intervenes either on his own or at Yuka's urging.

BTW - I believe in "The Shore in Twilight, The Sky in Daybreak" Youko says Taiki is the same age. But, it doesn't matter much I guess. I believe Youko was just using that as another example of how unaware of the world she used to be.

I can't see Yuka moving out. She seems to be friendlier than she was at the beginning of the Youko arc, so I suspect she gets along better with people now.

Quote from the translation:
" " Tai-ou was enthroned seven years ago... So Taiki was around the same age as me..."
What a queer feeling. There is a person who shares the same dream that Youko had seen, somewhere in that mystic land or that mystic city. When Youko was a small child, Taiki existed at that world, also as a small child. How unbelievable! It was as if the child that Youko met in a dream appeared in Youko’s reality, and was told as the reality through the mouths of Tyousai and Saiho. "

hm, i think the key term is "around." i think youko is a year or two older than taiki. i kno that doesn't sound like a lot (and thus "around the same age"), but that would mean that yuka is also a year or two older. when mashou no ko takes place is kaname's second year in high school. if yuka were even two years older, she would probably have moved out of her parents' house into an apartment for college (i think this practice is relatively common in japan), so i think it's entirely possible continuity-wise to replace hirose with yuka like they've already done in the bits for kaze no umi. i'd defintiely be interested in seeing how a person like yuka might handle the whole kaname situation. if they were to animate tasogare no kishi, i think they must do more from mashou no ko. anyways, i'm sure it would be good to watch regardless of how they work things out.

:o Youko is indeed one or two years older than Taiki, Taiki asked her how old she is during the Taiki-Youko conversation just before the rebellion. Youko replied that age is irrelevent in this world and said she should be one or two years older that him.

Yuka in place of Hirose would indeed be interesting..........(don't think that I'm sick)......will there be opportunity to speculate romance??? Would she accompany him back to the 12 kingdoms?? Possibilities.

I think it is very possible to have both Hirose and Yuka working together to help Taiki, Hirose needs help. He went beyond the call of duty to protect Taiki all by himself. Yuka knows what a kirin look like and would recognise Renrin as a kirin making the search easier.

Maybe both

I think Hirose will make a great character in the anime but they may decide to write him out in favour of Sugimoto. The book's version wasn't pretty about Taiki while he was in Japan.

His classmates died and whole family massacred by his shirei along with a few reporters. Very dark chapter in the JK stories, maybe the director will take a more mild approach with Sugimoto and she maybe can know Takasato as a kirin much faster than Hirose thus diverting a bloody mess. Then again who knows. :?:
