The People in The land of the JK

Ah Thoughts from a duck.

I was thinking about the people that make up the land of the different countryes. It seemed to me that they started getting the personality of the emporer.

In Kou the Emp was bigoted and suspicous of strangers and the people of Kou acted the same way

In En the Emp is relaxed and out going and from what i have seen the people there are more laid back. I am thinking of the sceane where Sigumoto (SP) is draged to the Kaikakyu office by a group of happy drunks.

In Hou the Emp unleashed unjust punishments on the populous and the populous later tried to do the same to his daughter.

I have not seen enough of the people of Kyuu but they might act more childish then the people of the other countries.

does this mean that eventueally the people of Kei will start acting more like Youko?

I don't think the people are somehow assimillating the personality of their emperors, if that's what you mean. It's just that in such a country under the government of a god-appointed monarch, the people are heavily affected by whatever policies are put in place. It's not like the people get to vote or anything. :D If the policies reflect the personality of the emperor, then you could say the way people live will be affected by it too.

The laws are a deciding factor, and so is the country's success. Kou was in the final stages of disintegration when Youko & Co. arrived there, so the suspicion, the attempted crimes, and the general unrest were probably the actions of people who couldn't find any other way to eke out a living.

En is a prosperous country, so you can afford to have peaceful drunks. Why worry about stealing someone's purse or selling someone into slavery if you already have a job, a house, and food?

I hope the people of Kei will be prosperous and content as well, although if I had to guess at a distinguishing characteristic, I'd say they'll probably be very tolerant of half-beasts... for good reason. ;)

I don't think Kyou-ou is childish. She may be childlike but her actions are quite wise and reasonable.

She's smart, but I don't like her attitude. She's an empress and all, but she's extremely condescending to everyone. I suppose if her kingdom is doing well, I'm no one to complain, but I wouldn't mind seeing her taken down a few notches. I see what Enki was talking about in the earlier overview of the countries... "They're a little... well, you'll see."

I guess episode 31 will settle the issue a bit more if Kyou-ou doesn't demand Sonshu's head on a platter.

Oh yes The Emp of Kyou is wise and a good ruler and all that but she is still childish. The entire throwing the sliper thing and stricking her Kirin and all that. I think that that is why she was shown forgiving the head maid. She may be childish but she only gives blame where blame is due.

Garamir, the ones that Enki called a bit strange were the Empress and Kirin of Han. ^^;

*sigh* I need to go marathon all the earlier episodes sometime... maybe at the end of this season, when I have time over the summer.

If Kyou-ou isn't the weird one, I worry about Han. o_O

Does anyone know anything about the ruler and kirin of Han? I mean, besides what Enki said about them being a little eccentric. I was under the impression that the ruler was male.

Yes, the emperor of Han is male. There was some discussion of them here a while back. IIRC, Han-Ou and Hanrin are very fashion-conscious, wanting to always have the most elaborate and trendiest clothes of any of the other emperors and kirin. And they apparently don't get along very well with Shouryuu and Enki (though whether that's just on a personal level or whether it extends to politics as well, I don't know). Oh, and I'm not sure whether it's because of them personally or not, but apparently the kingdom of Han is renowned for its art.

I thought that Han-Oh, Hanrin, En-Oh, and Enki all visit Kei rather often. Wouldn't that cause some dispute since they don't seem to get along?

Elaborate?

What about between Han-Oh/Hanrin and Eh-Oh/Enki? They don't like each other, right? Do they both appear together at Kei and bicker?

Wooo, second coup in Kei... A few officials in Kei were unhappy with how Sekishi was running things...so...another coup, except it was against our fav. characters.

AliceC> Hmm...bickering at neutral area so to speak, or a personality clash? Not much was revealed in the anime, besides Han being known for its craft, Han-O being trend keeping/ setting.... if I remember correctly, travels to Honrai often.

I vote for personality clash. En-ou hates ceremony and meetings and dressing up (hence his Hukan alter-ego) and Enki is the same. Han-ou strikes me as someone who loves that stuff. Probably like the "Odd Couple" who always fought, yet somehow got along anyway.

Thank you for the explanation. That makes me feel so much better because I didn't know what to think, since Tentei does not allow kingdoms to interfer with each other or they suffer. Yet, both visits Kei a lot so I wasn't sure if it was out of actual dislike, or just simple bickering due to differences, but still friendly knowning each other are good people...

I think too much, should use time in doing other things, but trying to learn from Juuni Kokki seemed more fun. ^_^

carmolita> " .....I'm really anxious to see this part animated"
you mean this as in animated or novelization?

Just a thought, Kings and Kirins seem to work better if Kirin reflects their kings, or at lest actively involved with them. En, Kei and Sai (?) would be good indications. Ko & Ho would be disassocation, shows the Kirins would've been strong enough to stand up to their masters...(abet they still have to obey them)

Well, Kourin worked hard in trying to get the King to be kind and not do this. He ignored her pretty much completely. I do see what Tahki is saying in that the rulers and the kirins often reflect one another. Keiki and Youko are both serious. Enki and En-Oh are serious but maintains a lighter look and sense of humor. Sai-Oh and Sairin were both quiet and serious. Kyou's ruler and kirin were childlike, yet wise. So, maybe. At first, I thought it was more of a complimentary thing, where their personalities balance each other out...eg, one more quiet and one more outgoing. Instead, they were rather similar if you thought about it.

carmolita> Think Kyou havesomething switched...the king being much shrewd abt human natures inspite of being a child, while her kirin has appearence of adult, yet has not much insight while dealing with people.
