Taika?

Okay I'm currently reading a translation of Demon Child (and I've only read Sea of Shadows so far) and it occurred to me the student teacher Hirose might be a Taika. It was this line that really made me consider it:
Neither Takasato nor Hirose were people from "here."
Also when I think back on what I've read so far. Hirose hasn't seemed scared or anything around Takasato. Perhaps a little uneasy, but if he is a Taika then even though he's been born in this world, maybe a part of him 'knows' that Takasato is a Kirin. Just a thought.

And if it's mentioned in the later novels that my musings might be right, please let me know. I have no problem with learning about spoilers of things I have yet to read. ^.^

I remember the teacher to be an ordinary human.

Hirose isn't from the world of the Twelve Kingdoms. He's just a person from this world who feels like he doesn't belong. I think Ono sensei is just drawing on some of the feelings we all have sometimes when we aren't feeling well, that there's somewhere else we truly belong. Hirose just has yet to come to terms with his angst. He's the perfect person to deal with Takasato's problems, since he can relate to Takasato on that level. But in Takasato's case, he actually is from another world.
