About ep31 ! "alittle rant and maybe spoilers"

First of all i would like to raise the topic about those ignorant people who say the JK recap eps suck!
JK recaps eps ARE essential they are there to outline the indepth storyline and titles and terms of meanings presented in the story so far and the good thing is they aren't just simple recaps but recaps that explain many things while still running something new on the storyline. (thoses that think they don't need it then name me all the ministers names in Keis Court without rewatching :P). Secondly to whoever in irc pointed out that naruto recaps were better than JK ones.. bah.
Naruto is a simple anime.. no recaps are really needed for each ep for like 1/3 or even 1/2 of EVERY EP. its just another DBZ like stall time anime. And unlike JK naruto recaps gets even worst than boring!

The other topic i wanted to raise about JK 31 was did anyone notice what the paper at the end of the ep that Shoukou placed his funny cup on??
The sheet had three names : Nakajima Youko, Sekki (in Red) and finally Sugimoto Yuuka (which is crossed out).

If you didn't watch JK 31 thinking it was a recap your missing out! JK recaps actually has some story to tell hehe.

I actually don't lie when I say that that is as much an explenation as you would need for that ;)

sure, ep 26 of naruto was a little fun. but otherwise.. it gets mighty repetetive. :P
especially since some of those 10 minute long recaps at the end of the ep goes back some three-four eps sometimes. :P

they can't have much faith in the human memory.

that's one thing I didn't really understand. .. seki wa nani desu ka?

on another note.. I'm happy the princess finally got her life back. (metaphorically speaking)... her smile is actually quite similar to Youko's, come to think of it.
or does everyone smile like that when they're introduced to Raku's aweinspiring empathy?

Well i don't mean to flame you naruto fans since i enjoy the anime myself (the non repetitive bits). Man if Naruto were to have no recaps it would be one hell of a anime.

Anyway about that paper.. maybe its an assasination list?? lol
no idea but wondering why Shoukou would know Sugimoto Yuuka's name..

Oh wait. maybe Shoukou put down Yuukas name as he was listening to Asano kuns story..
anyway it seems things have gotten alot more interesting as it is already :)

I think the recap was one of the better i've seen, I wasn't bored atleast which is a far cry from other ones I've seen...
Also it helped to give me a better idea of the plot, even if I already knew most of it..

I'm watching Naruto aswell, its cool, but it feels that sometimes it has a bit too little story to tell...and the action could be less talk..

sou desu ka? sore wa Youko no namae ka na...

eeerg. not good enough for this yet. :P

okey.. then that bit made a little more sense, yes. and he probably wrote some notes down while listening to the story..

also, sugimoto was around the emperor when she was taking back her country.
he might've overheard who she was.. and junk.

on naruto. I quite like it... or rather, what little you get tosee of it in every episode.
not to mention that I've come to LOVE the OPs and EDs ;) (yes, even the new one ;-)
it's kinda similar to DBZ in some regards: "power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, NOW you will die! ... wait no, I'm still not at my most powerfull level... power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up, power-up" ... except, here you have some pretty cool characters. and good music. ...

oh and foxes. and I'm not speaking about naruto here. ;)

Naruto is much better paced in the manga, without the long, angsty scenes they insert to ensure they'll never cover more than a chapter or two per episode. But the battle scenes in the anime are to die for. Much better than they can accomplish in a static black and white medium.

Well, there was that pilot chapter...

The one interesting thing that's been tickling at the back of my mind ever since I saw episode 31 was Rakushun's confession to Sonshu that he initially thought he'd get a job or a reference out of the deal for taking Youko to En. So far, we've seen him mainly through Youko's eyes, and he's always been a mythically patient and unflappable character. This is the first time I can think of him admitting that he had personal gain in mind. Perhaps that's also why he was so intent on disappearing in that scene they replayed during his flashback, before Youko told him that she didn't mind his appearance -- he might've been embarrassed that he'd do such a thing when he started to realize how special Youko was.

I reiterate that Rakushun makes every scene approximately three times better.

hmm

hehe i liked that power-up comparison with Naruto, it's about what I think aswell..

Just hold on here Daniel-San, I have already killed you, you just haven't noticed yet...
well actually I think Fist of the north star or something is like that..atleast the manga..

Anyhow the furry rat is definetly one of my favorites 12k chars alongside Sugimoto or what her name was...I'm quite pleased he actually had some personal gain..or else I would have attached a halo to his head !

In an unrelated note, ministers 2 youko the empress 0
I think she should start kickin some butt now. :)

Ahh the piece of paper ^_^

it said Nakajima Youko on the left Naka+Jima+You+Ko
then right next to the You is a re Seki with Ko underneath it. (Chinese reading of Ko is Shi making it Sekishi) The Sugimoto name crossed out :-p well, that will be explained in the following episodes as Asano continues to have dialogue with Shoukou.

Note: Can you people please stop calling Shoukei "Shonshu?" it's Sonshou :-P

She has too many names. Can I call her "Gyokuyou" still? That's the only one I remember consistently. -_-*

Gyokuyou? ... I think I should rewatch all the eps that I have and write down all the names of people... it's starting to be confusing with all this detail!! I love it!

Let's see...

Sonshou = Miss blue hair's original name
Shoukei = more like a nick-name (jewel of the palace)
Gyokuyou = her "new" name when she entered the rike

PS It's rather more common in Japanese culture (dunno about Chinese) to change your name. So you might have a child name, a coming of age name... etc. More famous types often get a new name after their death too.

PPS Before the Meiji era, commoners were only allowed to have a given name - they could not have a family name. (Probably why Japanese has a zillion names)

hehe

From my knowledge of Japan I belive their two main hobbies are..

a) fanatical obsession about curtsey

b) apologizing for their humble existance..

Thankfully 12K doesn't fall too hard into these cathegories..

As for the namecalling, I must admit they really make it hard sometimes to keep attention..but then again after watching the western types of series, I feel that keeping it simple sometimes detracts from the whole..

now that wasn't easy to explain..sigh

Yeh in JK i have to actually put some effort into remembering names since almost every character has like 3 titles to be called by
Usually their Original name or japanese name
Then the JK name they are given
or a official title or nick name

and example is Shoukei and
suzu/mokurin/honma lol

now most of these names are carved into my head :)
god im a fanatic
