Re: Favourite character

"girl my own age" was what Suzu and Shokei said about Youko. Despite the fact that one has lived 46 years and the other 100 something. The characters and story ignore the chronological age, which is what I call weird. It'd be like calling Enki 13 or En-ou 30(?) or Kyou-ou 12. Biologically true, but ...

Re: Favourite character

Really, you've got to love Shokei. She starts out so small a personality and becomes an impressive one. And at the age of 16 too! I like the way she's drawn: big luminous eyes and cascading hair. The only character who can compete with her is the terminally lovely Taiho of the Kingdom of Sai.

For what it's worth, and although the series is aimed at people a little younger than me, I thought Scrapped Princess was a great bit of stroytelling. I couldn't stop myself from watching the whole thing twice.

The idea is most inventive, and the art work is quite appealing to look at, with the ...

I have watched everything of The Twelve Kingdoms I can find, more than once. But I'm not an expert on the subject, and I don't know if I have caught up with all of it. Are there any films after Shoryu puts down the insurrection in En? I'm not yet familiar with the books.

What about other, similar ...

Isn't the point that, because Taiki was swept to Horai in a shoku, and grew up there for ten years, he has lost touch with his kirin nature when he is returned to the land of the Twelve Kingdoms? Most kirin grow up in their kirin form and learn to take on the human one. Taiki has had to do the ...

Asano is primarily there to act as a foil for the three girls: Yoko, Suzu, and Shokei. He is the character who demonstrates that success in the world of the Twelve Kingdoms is not assured - some come through, some fail and go under. (So, if you've ever though that you'd like to go there, remember ...

I don't think the attempt to exonerate Gekkei by showing him to be unwilling to take the crown of Ho is successful. If he is meant to seem like a moral person who took on the heavy responsibility of bringing down the king, then he should have bowed out altogether. His murders are a bit too much for ...
