I don't think there's any risk of shitsudou as long as she is honestly trying to help her kingdom. By what I understand the sickness doesn't come from failure, it comes from the Emperor loosing the qualities that make for a meikun. As long as (in Tentei's judgement) Yoko possesses those qualities ...

I think that as a Kirin she can only be killed by beheading or internal causes, even with a touki! After all, as you recall when the plotted to kill Yoko they felt they needed touki, if beheading would work with a normal weapon then they wouldn't have plotted to get so many touki. Without the need ...

Okay, there is no reason that people wouldn't get STDs. Disease is totally unreleated to procreaation. The virus or bacteria merely uses sexual contact as a vector to propogate.
On the other hand a Meikun could have the effect of reducing disease, just like they make the fields fertile so... if you ...

Considering that you have to tie the ribbon to the Riboku and pray to Tentei, I wonder if the baby will look like the parents? While on the surface it seems that there is no genetic connection between mother and child, perhaps Tentei does create children that reflect the parents who pray for them ...

I think that it is curious that they tell us that Hou's Kirin has no ranka, yet we've seen the ranka for Kou's Kirin. Unless I'm mistaken (and I don't think I am) Hourin died a number of years before Kourin, yet the new Kourin will be born first!

Tsunami: I liked Fushigi Yuugi! That said, I have to agree that it was rather superficial. When I saw the first episode I was thinking "Okay, it's like FY, except that the girl is given some ability to fight so that she doesn't have to be useless like Miaka." Fortunately by the time I saw Sugimoto ...

Themes of Juuni Kokki
I just discovered this show 8 days ago. In that time I have downloaded and watched all 29 episodes to date. (Poor me, I want more !)
One (of the many things) that impressed me about this show was how it develops themes which run through the story arc. I believe the theme of the first arc was "know ...
