New question: Enho (Spoiler for episode 39)

Post by bigfire »

With the revealation in episode 39 that Enho is the legendary sage that bind Sui-Gu-Tou, he in turn must've been an immortal. Now, he has served in Kei government before(he said so), and must've resigned from the office as well (well, at the beganning of arc 3, he isn't working for the government). This means his immortality isn't the lower form of immortality that's bind to the services in the government class, but one directly from the God... Just how does one get that?

Either that or the emperor simply never severed Enho's contract of immortality when he resigned. Only problem with that is that after the emperor was gone, his enemies could have severed the contract in the same way Gekkei severed Shoukei's.

EDIT: Or yet another theory: Enho's is a sage and originally received his immortality through means other than serving Kei-ou. :) If this is the case, then his enemies simply wouldn't have access to his contract and could therefore never sever it.

i think it said somewhere when suzu was talking to the older brother who was both in the rebellion (can't remeber his name off the top of my head) the guy said that he was a high sage.

Yes. Enho is what we call a "Higher Sage" (Hisen)
as opposed to a Kingdom Sage (Chisen).

Higher Sages do not directly serve the kingdom but are offered immortality due to their merits or services. Another example is the Suibikun Riyou of Mount Ha in Sai.

Couldn't a higher sage lose their immortality somehow, then? I mean, how did Suibikun get her status... she's certainly not higher-sage material at the point we meet her. ^^; Didn't the empress say something about being able to punish her if she wanted to? hm
