aww... does nobody here like Kourin?
I didn't dislike her, but she really didn't end up as much more than the unwilling servant of an evil master. Did she even have more than half a dozen lines?

I Like YOUKO best. What isthe work really attracts me is that I enjoy to see a normal people to grow up to a great one through experiencing many difficulties and getover them.I had seen too many heroes in animation, but she is the first one who looks so realable just like someone in our daily life.
And I also like the couple of EN and FAN(they are characterical )

Strange as this may be, my favourite is Shouko (?) ex-princess of Hou.
I liked her even from the start where she was spoilt & cursing Yoko while working in the Rike. Most ppl if given the same circumstances would have either committed suicide or rot at some corner brain dead.

Yes & I also find her growing attractive towards the end of ep.39
Mature, intellignet, strong & graceful.... :D

Take it from me, I've seen Tentei. He's a fat-ass, interested only in fanservice and pr0n. End of discussion.

I think she found it was mostly her own fault for the tough times she faced on Earth. Even though she's empress now, I'm sure she'll regret not being able to ever fully return to her place of birth. I know I'd have a hard time of it. Never being able to go home to be with her parents would be extremely hard I think. Then again, I wonder what laws there are to inhibit her from doing so. It would be nice if she were able to atleast go home and have dinner with her family once in ahwile. Whether or not her parents believe she's a divine chosen ruler of a country that just happens to be in seperate dimension that's somehow linked to Earth would be an interesting developement.

For the emperor of En it was different. He'd lost everything, so there was little to tie him to the world he once knew. Plus, at that point in time both worlds weren't that much different (disregarding the mythical creatures ofcourse).

Good to know that other people like Kourin too. Really wished she had more air time though... but with the next ranka in line... we might see another Kourin later on (a different one although)

At first, my favorite is Youko but after watching episode 37-39, my thought was like " Wow! Kantai!" :D
He's so cool!!! XD
No wonder Youko entrust him to be her sole general of Imperial Guard.

So, Youko and Kantai is tied, followed by Rakushun, En-Ou and Enki.
Strangely, I fond of Keiki with all his cold attitude...and also Sugimoto and Asano....

Heck, I like almost all the characters in Juuni Kokuki.
It make this story loveable and a thumbs up!!! I can't get enough of it!!

I agree ... Kantai is awesome! I especially like him in ep 40, where he's dressed up in full military regalia.

My favourite character is still the sweet little Taiki. I hope it won't take them too long to animate the second arc of his story. The main characters are all great, but as for a more minor character ... hmmm ... Sekki!

Youko, by far, due to her extraordinary development; over the course of 39 episodes, she transforms from a highly insecure and infantile teenager into a surpassing heroine and leader.

I like Youko - for she is nice, strongwilled and wholehearted
Keiki - - for his strong will, kindness, cool appearance and warm voice
Taiki - for his kind heart and courage
En-ou Shouryuu - he is just a good man
Rokuta - for his childish manners and mature wisdom
Tai-ou Gyousou - for his honour and... he is another man with heart and courage

And, of course, Rakushun!

Next are Kantai, Gekkei, Shoukei, Sekki, Sai-ou and Sairin.

Three kirins - Rokuta Enki, Kouri Taiki and Keiki - is the best team in all 12 kingdoms!

My number 1 favourite character's got to be Youko, she sorta gave me some invisible "encouragement" or "advice" on my life. She affected me the most. :)

Next on the list is Rokuta, he's so cute =D Especially in episode 40 or 41, cant really remember.. when he strteched his arms, lazy to get out of bed- kawaii :D He's my fav kirin ^^ and I like tat kind of relationship between Rokuta and Shouryu, how they joke around, giving some comical relief to the show.

When it comes to the wisest, Rakushun's the choice :D .. Well he managed to get Youko and Shoukei nack on track plus the fact that he's so cute again. haha. The way he worrys about Youko.. =) Wished he had more spotlight..

Others.. I thought Shoukei's cool too-after she met Rakushun :) The "rebels"-Kantai, Sekki, etc.. and Seishuu-I thought he was so brave ='( I nearly cried when he died.

Everyone rocks in this anime ^^

Kyo-ki, because he gets bullied by Kyo-o so much. Anyone who can tolerate 90 years of that is definitely the best ever.

Hmm... That is kind of a had question to answer, I love all the characters, but I have to say that I like Shoukei and Suzu the most because they change in the series and realize their mistakes. I can somewhat relate with them I guess. ^^ hope that doesn't sound weird.

I really like Suzu and Shokei, it's always nice to watch characters grow and mature. They're perfect companions for Sekishi. They can all relate to each other, it makes for a really nice dynamic.

However, I have to say that Rakushun's my favorite. He's so logical and . . . mousy ^-^

Followed closely by Youko, who is then followed closely by Rokuta and Shouryuu or Mr. Fuukan if you will- I just group those two together and consider them one person, it's hard to favor one over the other.

I also really like the Shusei collective. They rock-but again, above all, Rakashun is King. Not really but you know what I mean.

It's rather hard to pick a favorite, since there's lots of characters in this show I really like, but I think it would have to be either Shouryuu or Rokuta. I especially like both of them when they're together - the interaction between those two is priceless.

I also really like Gyousou. (I so wish the book that completes his story would be completed. :( ) And I like Youko for maturing so well through the series, and Rakshun for not needing to (since he's perfect from the outset).

And sorry to everyone who likes them, but I absolutely detest the arrogant bitch duo. I'll admit they get somewhat less obnoxious by the end of the arc than they were through most of it, but for me it was too little too late. They very nearly turned me off from the series entirely. It's too bad that the arc they're in has the best parts of Youko's story, which I really like. I don't want to miss any of Youko's scenes that are interspersed through the episodes featuring Suzu and Shoukei, but I don't want to have to watch the rest of any of those episodes again.

Tsk Tsk. I understand why you don't care much for them. They were pretty annoying and when I first watched the episodes I was just like "Hey enough about them- get back to Youko's story already!" but I would imagine that most people in their situation would act in a similar was.

You can see people reacting like that. It makes the characters more relatable I think. Which is nice-annoying at times but nice.

The 3 S's heh I didn't realize that either till it was pointed out

For me .. I hated Shoukei at the beginning of the arc, but Suzu was ok for me.. Until Rakushun enlightened Shoukei and she proved herself quite capable and mature, I switched sides from hate to like. Suzu was like the opposite, I pity her in the beginning but she got a little dislikable in the middle. At the end of everything, I like them both. Think they'd be good companions and advisors to Youko in the "future".

I luv the way how the characters change and grow through each episode, destestable to likeable..or the opposite, the process is like a test to our patience.

But I favour Youko and Shoukei more. >_<

Shoukei & Suzu - for some reason, I think I can relate to both of them.

Older Taiki - also someone I relate to

Gyousou - He's just cool. Just plain cool. And, thanks to the novels, we know that he's both decisive and understanding at the same time. He manages to stay out of the Sephiroth mold, too.

For some reason, I don't like Shoryu that much... probably because he fits into the Spike/Vash/Saiyuki/Onizuka mold too precisely, and I kept on hoping that he would show that he didn't fit into that mold at least once in the series.

My favourite character is, without a doubt, Taiki <3<3
Usually I'd be repulsed by such a "cute" character, but I was instead captivated by his amiable, considerate and sincere nature (might I also mention his sensitivity?) instantaneously. And as my fondness/adoration for him grew, I found myself liking him all the more for his cuteness.
Plus I'm sure his radiant smiles could disarm even the surliest of misanthropists, for it certainly had me smiling in return. Since then, he has dominated a significant portion of my mind, an obsession that resulted in more than 10 hours of precious time being frittered away on reading every Taiki-related novel I could find -- even if it meant having to endure hours of mind boggling chinese, and sacrificing exams... And still I can't enough of him. I really hope that Fuyumi-sensei will write a continuation or conclusion to Taiki's story, because Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora was quite disappointing in that Taiki didn't receive enough of what would be "screentime" in an anime... :(
I don't like the older Taiki as much as the 10 year old Taiki, though, probably because he reveals so little of himself as an adolescent.

Keiki comes in second for favourite character, but mainly for superficial reasons, I have to admit. Initially I didn't like his character design so much, in comparison to all the other bishies out there... But after accepting that he was most likely going to be the only good-looking guy in the show (though of course the opinion may differ from person to person), I started paying more attention to him.
Gradually, I began to notice a few more things about him. The first was that he isn't a stereotypical alpha male at all -- the kind that so many romances, and especially shoujo animes, seem to sport in abundance. For one thing, it seems highly unlikely for Youko to fall in love with him and vice versa, considering his experience with the previous ruler and their incompatibility, personality-wise (serious x serious just doesn't work out, unfortunately). Two, he doesn't have a tragic background that attributes to his personality: He simply is the way he is. And there were times when his stoic and straightforward disposition actually came across as being awkward. I even cracked a laugh in one of the episodes when a character alluded to it -- The only time I laughed during all those episodes.
His friendship with Taiki is also very endearing, touching a few chords within me during my perusal of the novels. It was the only time that I was induced to tears for this series.
Not to mention his voice -- something I grew to like most about him as the series progressed, probably because he sounds so genuinely masculine. And not in a boyish way, too. Nor does his voice ever come across as being rude, coarse, or overly feminine. I love his voice even more than Taiki's, as silly as it sounds. But considering how blind people can be under the spell of infatuation (and I *am* infatuated with Taiki)... I think that's quite a statement in itself.
The only thing that prevents Keiki from being my favourite character is the one factor that would make him stand out in your average shoujo title -- His personality. It's not that he's totally devoid of a personality, of course, but his reserved mien is such that people may be given the impression that there is no more to his character than his seriousness and reticence.

My third and also favourite female character would be Renrin. Not many reasons for why I like her, other than that she's beautiful, kind, soft spoken, quietly observant and strong willed. And to top that off, she's also very fond of Taiki.
