Twelve Kingdoms to be 15 discs
Okay, this is just speculation on my part here, but if media blasters is going to release 15 discs of Twelve Kingdoms and a box for all 15 (according to their statement at AnimeNext), then they have to be planning on releasing more than 45 episodes, right?
Seeing as they have released 10 episodes on the first 2 discs, that would only leave 35 episodes (if the total is 45) for the next 13 discs, which averages less than 3 episodes per disc. If the total expected to be released is 68, then they would be able to have 5 per disc with 4 on the final 2 discs. I think this is good evidence that there will be more episodes released in Japan in the near future.
Or it could just be wishful thinking.

maybe that was their intention before the japanese company decided to stop the series, but now they will have to change their plans. One thing is sure, they will always start a new arc on a new dvd, i mean, they will not mix chapters from different arcs on the same dvd.
What comes below is a guess of what they might do.....
1st arc: "Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi" ep 1-14, 3 DVDs (5 - 5 - 4)
2nd arc: "Kaze no Umi, Meikyuu no Kishi" ep 15-22, 2 DVDs (4 - 4)
3rd arc: "Kaze no Banri, Reimei no Sora" ep 23-40, 4 DVDs (5 - 4 - 4 - 5)
4th arc: "Higashi no Wadatsumi, Nishi no Soukai" ep 41-45, 1 DVD (5)
That would make 10 DVDs, and if they divide them in groups of five DVDs they can decide to make 2 boxes, first one for arcs 1-2 and 2nd for arcs 3-4..... and this leaves everything ready for a possible future 3rd box with another 5 DVDs for 1 or 2 more possible arcs if the japanese company decides to continue....

I'm pretty sure that your right about them starting new arcs on a new dvd. I'm still curious though about why they would state in October that the box (in the shape of a chinese chest) will hold 15 discs, when we've known since august that only 45 episodes are currently being released. Maybe its an error on their part. For now though, an ounce of hope is all i need to cling to when it deals with more of this series coming out. ^_^
Also, i'm glad that their making the box available to be bought seperately for people who have already purchased the first discs.

The Japanese comany said it stopped for the moment, not forever. In the time Media Blasters gets around to release all 3 arcs and part of the first one it still has to release (and even more if they keep the bi-monthly schedule), there is more than enough time for them to do 12K last arc, 12K second part, 12K 2005 and 12K Forever.
If the 3-2-4-1 guess is correct, and 3rd disc for the first arc comes out in December, that means that they have DVDs to release until January-February 2005.
I guess that's enough time for them to decide what to do with the empty space, or for the Japanese company to make a final decision on 12K

I actually have both bookmark sets and the collectible card set, but I think I'm going to sell them in a bit because after cleaning up my small apartment, I decided a big poster and two incoming 12k calendars are enough. ^^; (Actually, I want the sheet music for the piano score - trade?)
So, anyone who wants the bookmarks/cards, I'll be selling mine this month or next (will post link to ebay - just easier)...

Where did you get those??? Did you buy them in Japan, order them online, or buy them locally at a Japanese bookstore? As for the piano score, I've heard of it but I haven't even been able to find the ISBN. Hmm ... now that I think about it ... the weather is lovely today. Perhaps I'll nip down to Sasuga and see if they have any JK stuff. That is, if they're open on Columbus Day ... drat.oion wrote:I actually have both bookmark sets and the collectible card set, but I think I'm going to sell them in a bit because after cleaning up my small apartment, I decided a big poster and two incoming 12k calendars are enough. ^^; (Actually, I want the sheet music for the piano score - trade?)

BTW ... are there any JK wallscrolls in existence? Posters tend to fall and acquire ragged corners at a ridiculous rate.
Through a friend in Japan; AFAIK certain things are already out of print anyway, so they're hard to find in normal sources. Er, I think.... Anyway, the calendars are (were?) available through CDJapan.co.jp, and they ship to the US (though the preorder dates may be past already). Oh, they had the card set up too, somewhere, and carry shitajiki and postcards along with the cds.
There are no official wallscrolls according to the official site, I think. So any you see are likely bootlegs. For my nicer posters, I tend to laminate them (or you can get poster frames). Or a cheap thing I do us to use archival tape and just tape the edges to prevent fraying. ^^;
One of these days I'll get my hands on the piano score..
btw, my particular poster was the limited extra that went with the Region 2 DVD, so you can't really buy it separately, sadly. It's a big version of the DVD cover, basically (R2 cover same as R1, IIRC?). I haven't been able to find the first official anime-style poster anywhere, sadly.
