Junni Kokki Anime

Post by Kramfreak »

Hi, I am very new at this.

In fact, I discovered the anime title Junni Kokki yesteryday, and I've never even heard of it before..
Through some research, I found the mirc channel for this site, and found an FTP distributor there(luckily) and downloaded 44 episodes today..

I saw first 3 episodes just now and it seems very interesting!!
I just love the ancient chinese/japanese setting the story takes palce in..

At animenfo.com the total number of episodes for this anime was 60+ but it stopped at 45..

Is this true? the project has been halted?
Or is translators of 12kt still working on this anime project and will release to the end?

can someone please tell me?
thank you!

Junni Kokki is based on a book.
The author decided to take a breack from writing for unlimited time.
So naturally they halted the series as well, until the author will give some more info.

But I still recommand you to see it.
The first season of junni kokki ends in episode 39 and it could be some kind of an end.
but we are all just eager to see more of junni kokki.
ITS IN MY BLOOD...I MUST SEE IT!!!!

From what I understood, they (the anime) wanted to make Youko, not her arc, the main focus. They were able to fit her in with the first Taiki arc by having Shoryu tell Youko Taiki's story. The problem is Youko has been involved in too much for the anime compared to the books, or so I've read, so her character starting to stretch thin with the arcs that have nothing to do with her. Hopefully some happy medium will be found and the series can advance some more. While we're at it, hopefully the novels will someday be licensed, translated, and released in the US :)

There are only 45 eps animated so far (not the fansubber's fault btw :D )

Aside from Youko's arc, there are also novels that talked about two other kingdoms along with various pieces on other other kingdoms. The arcs that makes up the other two kingdoms are novels on Shouryuu's and Taiki's story. The rest of the stuff and short stories I *think* were compiled into the 8 cd dramas. The animators managed to squeeze the first part of Shouryuu's story into one ep in the first anime arc (Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi). The second part of his story made up the last arc (Higashi no Wadatsumi, Nishi no Soukai). The first part of Taiki's story was made into the second anime arc (Kaze no Umi, Meikyuu no Kishi). The reason these three were animated because they contributed in some way or another to Youko's story line, generally it was to help explain to youko (as well as the viewers) a certain aspect of the world of JK and why her rule must take a certain direction, etc. The last part of Taiki's arc lacked anything that could be used to further Youko's story so it was never animated (or so that's what the animators have claimed). They're lacking enough character development and many other necessary components to make the last arc as well-animated as the 45 eps that came before it. Thus, they said they're waiting for more novel material to be written before attempting to make more anime eps.

I'm not absolutely sure at all about everything i've said. Some of it comes from what other people tells me, some of it from divine revelation (Tentei told me before he disappeared in the pile of pr0n and FFXI in his basement), and the rest i've just "reasoned" out myself.

Feel free to correct me if you know something I don't. I'm sure my logic isn't 100% idiot-proof. (a downside to being a super-intelligent rat)

An "arc" would be considered a set of episodes that can stand on their own as a story, such as eps 1-14 (Youko's ascention as empress), 15-21 (Taiki's history), 23-39 (Youko learning the ropes of managing her kingdom), etc. The arcs are conventiently split up by the book, or combination of books that were used for plot material. Look at the names of the sets of episodes and things should start to make sense.

I've been following Harunako's 12K novel translations and it appears that "Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora", which continues the Tai/Taiki arc, does involve Youko.

Interesting... Is there any source of documentation you could point us to on that, ie where you got the import?

Actually, that arc does involve Youko. The need to include Youko in the anime was mentioned to explain why they couldn't go ahead and animate some other arc instead. I believe they are unsure about one specific character who is apparently the (or a) crux of the plot.

I just finished reading what they translated from The Shore in Twilight
The Sky in Daybreak arc and its good. Too bad they are only up to page 14 but it did confirm my suspicions that Taiki's horn took a serious hit. I wonder if he will heal and if the ruler of Tai is in Japan too. It was good to see Youko in it too, at least the anime will be able to incorporate this arc well when she's done writing. I wonder who assulted Taiki in the first place?

Gyousou in Hourai? Now that's an interesting idea.

As for who attacked Taiki, it's been rumored to be one of the characters introduced in the Kasyo no Yume -- Toei story.

Indeed. It was someone whom Taiki at least trusted, as the novel translation said. I really can't wait to see the rest translated. Oh well. Impatience sucks :P

This author taking a break thing, how long of a break? Where did people get this info anyways? Is there any chanse she just stopped for good? Cause thats what someone else told me, also someone without a source, as of now i have heard a couple of rumors but none had a source.
Shame, if only the taiki arc would have been finished then at least it would have been some sort of closure. Maybe some small 1 or 2 ep animated stories bout the other kingdoms they didnt cover... . Guess its all wishfull thinking, ive seen this happen to animes so often, the cutting of without finishing a storyline leaving fans waiting for many years untill they finaly realise a sequal is never gonna come...
