If we all write to her perhaps it will convince her to write more and inspire them to continue the anime

Ya.. to show her that there's still alot of fans around supporting Juuni Kokki!

According to an editor, Ono-sensei is now writting the continuation of a book "Tasogareno Kishi, Akatsuki no
Sora".

Since she's writing now, that's good news to hear. So yay

Hopefully she'll finish this a.s.a.p and write a good story too.

Hmm.. I think we all just have to wait patiently for now.

The continuation of the story in Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora has been in the works since before the first one was published (in 2001). It had always been planned to have another volume. I'm not really sure how much we can read into the publisher saying that it's in the works, after it already has been for so long.

wah, if they say fuyumi ono is writing 12 kingdoms novel again, that really a very very good news!!!

what the link of the bbs? maybe we all post there to let ono sensei knows that there are lots of her fans that are not japanese waiting for the next 12 kingdoms novel. It might motivate her to write more

hmm now we all know what makes nhk stop the anime series. it's because they got no idea for gyousou whereabout. Next all we need to do is to wait for this story then we should expect the anime series will continue.
The question now back to whether fuyumi ono is writing story about gyousou or not...

Oh, I've watched some of it. It's just when I put the DVD in, I cannot resist just watching the anime. The question of Juuni Kokki was also asked of the director at AnimeExpo and he pretty much said there's no real talk of continuing the series at the moment. I guess, all we can do it wait. I wonder if there is any chance of inviting Fuyumi Ono sensei to the US. Truly doubt it, but I can dream. Does anyone know anything about Fuyumi Ono sensei, like a general bio?

Ono-sensei will go to the US...to sign a contract of translation...if ever they will translate and release english version of JK...so it is still possible that our beloved writer will go to the US....that would be good...=D

Yes, we can dream. The thing is, from what my friends are saying, Fuyumi Ono sensei is not your typical author. She has her own ideas about how to do things, so it really depends largely on her. This discussion stemmed from my friend wanting to get the GhostHunt novels. Since those are old, they are often out of print. It seems that Fuyumi Ono sensei refuses to do re-issues, despite it's huge popularity. Don't know what to say... >_<

sumtyms, japanese can be selfish...maybe she wants to preserve JK only in japan? i dunno but i think that's how their nationalism works....but i hope she will allow english translations...doesn't she want to upsurp tolkien? or maybe she is afraid of bad comments on those who wants to upsurp tolkien...such as rip-offs and stuffs....grrr...i hope she will have her novel in english!!! it's the best asian epic in the whole world!!!

I think we've been spoiled by JK Rowling and how open she is about everything

Most authors aren't like that so I think Ono is probably pretty normal. I really hope she keeps writing, though, I really want another novel about what happened to Gyousou. If nothing else, we have three great people translating the novels and so far Ono has not tried to stop them so we can be grateful for that.

Frankly, I think that an Asian book if translated for the masses in the US would be changed substantially. Names, words, etc. We have learned, from watching and reading the online translations, about chinese characters and similar sounds, and names, but how do you write that in a book for a 14 year old without a lot of footnotes? I think that may be a concern of hers, it certainly concerns me. I don't want anything changed - even if it means a lot of footnotes - so I think the market for the book will be anime lovers only, which is still a large market, but not "top 10" material.

I think this underlines the large bias Westerners have for non-Western culture. This is, literally, the only Asian book I've ever read (the online translations). Yet I am a literature major. How sad. Well, I've read a few folk tales included in anthologies, but still, that is so minimal it doesn't count for much.

HOLY CHEESE!!! It is sooooooooooooooooooooooo good! They even have the music?!?!!!! Why the heck didn't the US do that? It'll get promoted sooo well (psh, they still haven't updated since years ago...minor exaggeration). I love it. I want someone to do the sword thingy...its sooo awesome.

As for the author information, I do agree that European authors are more about letting readers know about them to seem more friendly. Which will in turn sell their books while at the same time help inspire and help future writers (book conventions, I'm a geek, so what

). Even so, it just seems as if nothing about Fuyumi Ono sensei is known, and I mean nothing. Even some of the more private authors that I know do let out a few mini info. Then again, if she doesn't want to, it's not as if I want to make her. Just curiousity, and it does hurt to ask.

Overall, I still feel that learning a language and reading it in its original context often makes it more beautiful. I do not contest the fact that translation changes thing, nor is it in any sense a bad thing, but the translators do need to be careful. Aside from the meanings and descriptions, writers are often very poetic in the words that may not easily come across with direct translation. So, I promote caution and expansion of knowledge.

You know, I'm 26 years old, I have a career related to computers that doesn't have enough programming in it for me, I have a dual-monitor setup in my room, and I put up pictures of the latest boxset of a cartoon on a website that's on a server that I've setup in my ex-girlfriend's house (bit of a story on that one...). And I look around and see a distinct lack of books (and shelves to hold those books) that I need to acquire. And I play acoustic guitar and play video games. And I offered to see if I can do that sword thingy with the animation using open source software.

Believe me, you're in the company of at least one nerd here...

Yes, as long as Juuni Kokki remains at top popularity, the publishers will continue to pump them out. And again, as we have all mentioned, it really is up to Ono-sensei (as in the case with GhostHunt in NOT republishing them

). Since she is finishing up Tai's storyline, she'll have tons of time (should she choose to) continue with the other kingdoms. On the happy note of art, I've already got the 2006 on order. Hehehehehe. If the art is still so popular (the posters are constantly being sold out), it is a sign the the series is popular. Who knows, maybe they'll make more stuff.

The french website was wonderful. I'm so disappointed at many (most) of the translation US companies. *sigh* which makes me really worried about who gets the rights. They must choose very very carefully.

in choosing...i would choose to have a british company to translate...nothin special but i would prefer them...

i don't like much tokyopop translations....
hehehe...i would prefer scholastic to translate it...though i think their prices are sort of expensive....or chuangyi could do the job...their translation rocks too...

We have to keep in mind that in America, most of those manga/anime companies are often owned by other US publishing companies. Many of which are linked to international companies. *sigh* I don't want to get political, so I'll just leave it at that.

Actually, that is something my friends and I have been discussion. Fuyumi Ono sensei can write so much about Juuni Kokki. There are so many other kingdoms to talk about, but no one really knows if she's going to. I mean, she doesn't have to, but several kingdoms are unstable. There are tons of possibilities. At the same time, does she want to?
