My favorite opening songs are from Haibane Renmei and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The Haibane Renmei opener is very symphonic; an instrumental. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's opener is very electronic, with fantastic Russian+Latin+English vocals.

Can't think of any ending songs I really enjoy, though...

Usually my favorites off the soundtrack are the songs that aren't at the beginning or end of the show.

Hrm...Matantei Loki Ragnarok's opening is really good. ^^ I like it a lot. As for endings...hrm...I dunno. I never usually watch the endings of shows. XD

I'm ordinarily a big fan of orchestral music myself, but I really found myself liking the opening and ending songs to Wolf's Rain, Stray and Gravity, though Gravity's english lyrics were pronounced with a slight Japanese accent since it was sung by Maaya Sakamoto. On the other hand, Ask DNA from the beginning of the Cowboy Bebop movie (is that considered an opening?), is just a great song in my opinion. I'm obviously something of a Yoko Kanno fan; I'm rather amazed by the depth and range of her work.

For openings Haibane Renmei has gotta be my favortie, though theres some other good ones too like Last Exile, AMG TV, the first FMA, and FMP Fumoffu.
Looking at my Winamp playlist i'm notcing i ahve very few endings on there so i'd have to say my fav is the first FMA ending.

i believe the Japanese version is.. Moonlight Densetsu? o_-; maybe? eeehh.. all i know is i have a rock-ish version of it.. dunno how i got it.. mustve been on one of my random downloading spress to search for new artists to look under.. but umm.. i dont really know the english version, since i condemn all dubs to the flaming depths of hell , but ive heard little midis of it and i believe it to be..it... i... think? o_o
