A group called "woofnick" took up the series and is releasing new fansubs of the episodes up to 26. Google woofnick for more information. If you can't find what you're looking for, PM me.

Just thought I'd add that I've finished watching Seikai no Monshou and am now working on Seikai no Senki. Freaking great series. . . :) I like 'em so much that I've set myself to working on a 2D space-sim based on the series. :D

Fruits Basket
Shoujo Kakumei Utena
Furi Kuri
Slayers!
Hana Yori Dango
Arjuna
and
Hikaru no GO

I'm surprised some of the above mentioned series were not mentioned in some peoples lists. Slayers! is a classic series. I'm still hoping/praying that more will come out in the future. There is still promise there.

-Gotta love that RahXephon (Was my favorite until Juuni Kokki, somewhat an Eva clone, yet a great deal different at the same time)
-Record of Lodoss War (Was my favorite until RahXephon, Anime's take on Lord of the Rings)
-Iria: Zeiram (its a great old classic, and thanks to good ol' Media Blasters, its been reprinted with a nice collector tin)
-Excel Saga (funniest anime I've seen)
-Cowboy Bebop (I don't think anyone needs this explained)
-Trigun (great action, perfect blend of action and comedy)
-Armitage Poly/Dual Matrix (Own Dual Matrix, but have only seen Poly Matrix on SciFi back when they used to show anime, nevertheless, they're great movies.)
-Robotech (as with Zeiram, this one is a classic as well as the first anime series I ever saw.)
-Galaxy Express 999 (one of my earliest memories of anime)
-Grave of the Fireflies (... probably one of the most emotional movies [anime or not] that I've ever seen)
-Rurouni Kenshin OVA (umm... very emotional and also very brutal.

Yeah, for these I'm a little late getting into, but I just started watching:

-Naruto
-Full Metal Alchemist

Berserk
HHC
Vampire Princess (OVA 1st, than the TV)

ANIMES!!!

Who doesn't love animes?? :D

There isn't a specific favourite anime due to the fact that i only get to watch them on tv programmes (which are a little limited) and the tv stations usually choose the best.... so i can only name those that i've watched before.

DragonBall Z - i think that's the name?? i got influenced by my brother.

Sailormoon - a group of girls in dresses that's way short! hehe

Slamdunk - Hanamichi Sakuragi!! is soooo adorable!!

Cardcaptor Sakura - Okay i know people are gonna think its sooo girlie and all.. but i really like the story and characters.

Samurai X - great action and love story going on.

Hana Yori Dango - The romance in this story is such a fantasy! And you get to see Tsubasa kicking guy's ass!

Fruit Basket - i didn't watch the anime till it was near the ending... nevertheless it caught my attention

Inuyasha - the tv station only brodcasted it till the end of season 1... and i'm still waiting for it to continue... Inuyasha is very very funny!!

Hellsing - good vs. bad vampires... interesting albeit short

Juuni Kokki - totally addicted to it!!

Kiddy Grade
Last Exile

Well, those are my fave.. there are a few that seemed ok like Gundam Seed and by the way... does Transformers count???
I seem like a tv junkie here don't i?? considering that all that i've listed are most of the animes shown on my tv.. ^_^

Ashita no Joe
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Grappler Baki
Hajime no Ippo
Juuni Kokki
Kimagure Orange Road
RahXephon
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
Wolf's Rain

Out of these, Hajime no Ippo is my favorite by far. I guess I just really like manga that portrays people hitting each other in the face repeatedly in a semi-realistic way.

Wolf's Rain is about fangirls drawing pictures of guys licking each other and rolling around...

just kidding. Wolf's Rain is about four wolves who are looking for paradise. They find a flower girl who is the key to paradise and journey out into a cold, post-apocalyptic world.

I only watched up to episode 15 but it was really awsome. Although people have told me that they ruined it by adding 4 extra episodes at the end.

My favorite series include (in no particular order)

Juuni Kokki
ONE PIECE
Witch Hunter Robin
Gokusen
Slayers
Shoujo Kakumei Utena
Gundam Wing
Gundam Seed
Hajime no Ippo
Arjuna
Hikaru no Go
Yami no Matsuei (the first two arcs)

There's probably more but I can't recall them right now.

I guess I should add my list of favorites here too.

Definite top three, though a series I'm watching right now might dethrone one or two:

1) Twelve Kingdoms
2) Visions of Escaflowne
3) Full Moon wo Sagashite

Others that I really enjoyed (in no particular order):

Beck
Chobits
Princess Mononoke
Ranma 1/2
The Slayers
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Neon Genesis Evangellion

I've seen many more, but these are the ones that quickly come to mind as my favorites over the years.

One that I'm currently watching that's quickly moving up in my favorites list:

Crest/Banner of the Stars

This series has potential to supplant Escaflowne in my #2 spot, and I've only watched the first series (Crest of the Stars) and the first half of the second series (Banner of the Stars). I'll have a better idea of where it goes after the third series (Banner of the Stars II), but I hear that there's a fourth season that's coming out soon (Banner of the Stars III... hmm.. I see a trend... :D ). This is also another series that came from a series of novels.

Fave anime

Post by ceedum »

I'm new on this site and am so happy to be here!

I think 12 Kingdoms is my favorite anime ever -- to think that I almost did not bother finishing the series after the 3rd dvd -- I do have other faves:

1) Otogi Zoshi - So far only seen the Heian arc, it also has a strong female character, very good historical anime
2) Samurai Champloo - what can I say, the animation is wonderful and it is fun to watch!
3) Last Exile - BEAUTIFUL animation, excellent story as well
4) Rurouni Kenshin - the first 2 OAVs and the Kyoto arc in the TV series. But I still like the last OAV despite the lousy sad ending
5) Fruits Basket - very sweet story, Kyo rocks!
6) Fushigi Yuugi- the first series I ever watched, despite Miaka, I love it
7) Night Walker - Has its flaws, but still an engrossing series.
8) Full Metal Alchemist - only seen a few episodes, but very engrossing!
9) Inuyasha - if only Rumiko Takahashi would end her stories more conclusively, this would be up there. *sigh*

Since the last time I posted, I've watched some new stuff and I've enjoyed most of it. Sol Bianca had gorgeous animation and it is a pity it is too damn short to really get inside the character's heads and motivations. Still, when the Bianca uses it's super attack, wow! It is a beautiful sight to scene and the opening theme is pretty good too.

Tenjho Tenge enters in my Guilty Pleasure category. Handsome men and gorgeous yet lethal ladies parade around flaunting their goods while inflicting pain to each other in countless manners. Eye candy is galore and be aware that fanservice is plentiful for both sexes here. Wasn't too happy with the ending but still enjoyed the experience overall. Besides, Chibi Maya Natsume is just too cool.

I've also been entertained by Planetes, Patlabor and Naruto. However, the series that has blown me away and made shreds out of my expectations is RahXephon. After not being particulary happy with Gungrave's ending, I approached Rah with caution, since I'm not really into Mecha anime, but boy, was I wrong with this one. First, don't believe anyone who tags it as an Eva clone, 'cause it isn't, just like Junni Kokki is not just another take on the Fushishi Yugi girl that travels to another country/time/dimension theme. While Eva's characters, save from Misato, don't win a popularity contest and much less motivate you to really care for them, Rah's cast is far more likable and believable. IMHO, those similarities with Eva are superficial and in the end Rah stands as a very fulfilling original and with an ending that won't give you migraines for the rest of week.

Heh, I though Planet ES was one of the best anime series in 2004. Though what I liked about it was just how patient it was with the story.
However, the series that has blown me away and made shreds out of my expectations is RahXephon. After not being particulary happy with Gungrave's ending, I approached Rah with caution, since I'm not really into Mecha anime, but boy, was I wrong with this one. I'm actually watching RahXephon for the second time now. I actually think the similarities with NGE are a bit deeper than superficial, but where I really find similarities are with Vision of Escaflowne. Both RahXephon and Escaflowne deal with mysteries from mythological lost continents with great technology (Esca had Atlantis and RahXephon dealt with Mu). Both involved a heavy mix of technology and magic/mysticism. Both involve plots of changing the world. Both are more focused on the characters rather than on the action around them. Both also include a pretty large amount of characters, and quite a few love triangles. And both had lead characters whose choices would cause severe repurcussions in the world they were in. In the end, both have the same basic theme: love.

All of this is not too suprising since many of the same people that worked on Vision of Escaflowne also worked on RahXephon.

I actually like Escaflowne more than RahXephon, but I do hold RahXephon and Neon Genesis Evangellion at the same level (for different reasons).

Other anime that I've liked since my last post:

Haibane Renmei (this is infact just behind Twelve Kingdoms in my most favorite list now)
Kino's Journey (This is in my top ten, easily)
Berserk (Same as KJ)
Now and Then, Here and There (Same as KJ)
Grave of the Fireflies
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Rose of Versailles (This 26 year old Anime is also in my top ten)
Azumanga Daioh

What I forgot to list last time:

Serial Experiments Lain
Last Exile
Full Metal Alchemist
nightchaser
Shogun

I liked RahXephon until the last couple episodes... Same with Berserk - I didn't like the last couple episodes of that either.

I'm watching Noir right now and really liking it.

I recently watched Hack//sign. Loved it! I bought the two cd soundtrack.

I also recently watched Last Exile. I really hoped that Deo would have had a better ending though.

To get off anime - but stay in Japan - I recently watched "One Missed Call" and, well, has anyone else seen it? It makes no sense whatsoever. But the premise is scary - victim receives a call but the message says it was sent two days in the future - and the message is themselves being killed... And I like any movie I can't guess the ending to
