silly question.

Discuss about anything related to the Twelve Kingdoms, also known as 十二国記, Juuni Kokki or Jūni Kokuki. Talk about the novels, the anime, the writer Fuyumi Ono or illustrator Akihiro Yamada, but beware for spoilers!

silly question.

Post by cytochrome »

i watched 12 kingdoms awhile ago now, at least 6 months, and of course after the fact i was on an amazing high :P, and there were rumors of the series continuing, mosly false, i dunno. But as time went by 12kingdoms slowly faded out of my mind untill recently when i found the dvd's :P.

so i was just wondering...

is the series still staying at its imcomplete 50 something episodes, or has there been any new enws about finish it with the planned 68 or w/e?

sry if this is repetitive and has been asked before :/.

Last I've heard, it's still at 45 episodes, and officially on hiatus until another novel in the Juuni Kokuki series is written.

As for it actually continuing, my guess is as good as yours. :(

Yes, there was a rumor awhile back that many of the American corporations were bidding for the copyrights. As of now, no one has it or has yet to announce, I believe if is the former.

I remember talking with some of the people in Del Rey and it seems that the bidding is getting a bit intense now since they found that the translations of Vampire Hunter D and Slayers has been getting good sales. For Juuni Kokki, Fuyumi Ono sensei probably has a say in it as well, so there are lots of legalities to deal with. Besides, I wouldn't mind waiting for the novels as long as I know they are going to be accurate and as precise about the language, cultures, and essense of the stories as possible.

I'd really like to see Del Ray get it. I've read some of their titles and though I don't know Japanese, it seems pretty good (translation wise) And I mean, in comparison to tokyopop or Viz, they're the underdog and I like to see the little guys prosper (I know I'm mixing my analogies-what are ya gonna do about it?)

I'll read JK no matter who gets the rights too it but if it isn't Del ray, I hope it's Tokyopop simply because they're pretty good about release dates and they're a big enough company that we don't have to worry about them running into cost problems, so they'll be fairly cheap.

Well, Del Rey has been getting some good titles (manga-wise). They should be coming out with Fuyumi Ono-sensei's joint manga "Ghost Hunt" this month, but I haven't seen it yet. Driving me insane!! I asked them about Juuni Kokki and they gave me the good news of GhostHunt, so I'm pretty happy.

I don't know if it still is, but it was during this summer. That was when I asked around Of course, do to the legal stuff, the people I talked to didn't say much because they were not allowed to say who, when, or how much. They did hint that the US companies are talking about it. Even then, the person didn't want to say too much (could get suied and all). Heck, I don't even know if I'm allowed to be saying this.

Anyhow, until the actual company annouce it (either in the US or the Japanese publishers), there wouldn't be any accurate sources (at least not from me ~_~) about Juuni Kokki. About Ghost Hunt though, I was told that if the manga does well, they will bring out the novels of Ghost Hunt. Which also led to the conversation of the person hinting that some of the major novels out there are getting a lot of attention. US companies are starting to realize that translated novels are bring in a good amount of capital. Stuff like that.
