Newbie here!, an idea to press NHK for more 12 K
Hello, i am new here although been a fan since 2 years ago when the series began circulating on DVD. I dunno if someone already come up with this, but me, been a marketing officer, belief thet the best way to maybe push Ono Sensei and the guys at NHK to produce more 12k is to start a petition, try to cover a wide range of countries by mobilizing every ppl out there that have seen the series and love it as much as we do, also get new ppl to watch it and sign the petition to... hell, even make ppl that havent seen it sign it also (and if the heaven punish me, let them as long as we have more 12k LOL). I dunno, but what i have heard and seen in the web and other media, the amaizing story of the twelve kingdoms is picking up momentum, so why not push it a little forward... anyway, just a thought and if someone already had this idea... my apologies :)

thats cool, we should try to organize something more massive, i have trying to think of ideas on how to do this, but it will mean pulling every fan here and elsewhere into a concentrated effort... I love this series too much to let it just fade into memory...beside, thanx to it, i have become an anime fan again :)

I'm not a publicity guru, but I checked the web link above, there are only 356 petitions? Not many. May be, we can push this URL into a main thread or a seperate section of the discussion so that people visiting this forum notice it. I thought there was another petition other than this one. I think the best way is to go directly to NHK. Does anyone have connections?
Watching a movie is the best because we can see facial expressions and how they officially interpret the story.

Thats the idea, fragile_bloom. What i was thinking was something really massive, i mean, in this forum alone there are like 3,000 members, right? and if of those member they can find at least 6 ppl each that will be willing to be part of the petition, well, thats 18,000 right there. Plus, if there is a way to coordinate with others with similar ideas and join forces, i am sure we can reach a number high enough to maybe make NHK to think about it. also, we need someone that can get us a connection in NHK.
I am thinking of ways to do this, and if you guys help me, i think we can do it. I will let you know with what i come out, need to give it a thought :)
let me know what you think...
Thank You

Well, it's got this whole thread devoted to it now as well as the "SPREAD THE WORD!!" thread from a few months ago. (Plus, I think it's been mentioned in a couple of other threads.) And obviously, you noticed this thread or you wouldn't have posted in it. (Sorry, it just seems a little odd to ask for what's so obviously already here.)fragile_bloom wrote:May be, we can push this URL into a main thread or a seperate section of the discussion so that people visiting this forum notice it.
First off, this forum has perhaps a couple dozen active members, and we can assume there might be twice as many lurkers (though I doubt those who aren't active enough to post are active enough to sign a petition). Of course, many of the couple dozen people here are among those who have already signed the petition. I expect that, at the very most, you might get another dozen signatures out of this. Of course, feel free to advertize the petition. Another dozen signatures is another dozen signatures.KingofSith wrote:i mean, in this forum alone there are like 3,000 members, right? and if of those member they can find at least 6 ppl each that will be willing to be part of the petition, well, thats 18,000 right there.
There's over 360 signatures on the petition already, though it's a bit disappointing how few of the signitures are from Japan. It's the Japanese audience that could really have an impact on continuing the series. Then again, a petition isn't really going to have any impact on such decisions anyway; it's just a way for fans to tell each other they like the series. NHK isn't going to make business decisions based on who signs a petition. Such decisions are made based on more concrete figures like their income from the DVD sales or from broadcast advertisers. If you want to encourage NHK to continue the series, what you should be asking people to do is buy more DVDs, not sign a meaningless petition. (Similarly, the way to encourage Ono-sensei to write more books would be to encorage more people to buy her books, but that would really be more appropriate towards a Japanese audience who can read them.)
Strangely enough, I am rather iffy on this. I'd rather Ono write when she is good and ready to do so, not because her audience demands it. Yeah, I would love it if there's more, but writing a good novel is not easy, and writing a novel like the 12 Kindoms is probably extremely difficult. These works come out best when they are a labor of love, not a labor of demand.
So, in the end, even if what we have is all we will get, I am very satisfied with it. If I were to write to Ono about this series, I would thank her for what she has done and not ask her to write more.

Actually, when I suggested main thread, I thought of a heading on the forum index, after "The twelve kingdoms discussions". I think only the forum administrators can do this.
errr....how unfortunate signatures are lost!
I think the novels should at least be translated into English although I'd love to watch the animation as well. I'm living in a remote part of Canada, the anime stores here don't carry the 12 kingdoms at all. They do however carry "Inuyasha" in full. I'm not sure about big cities like Toronto and Vancouver, but without the complete English translation, a lot of people won't be able to enjoy the stories.

Strangely enough, i have to agree with you.
I'd LOVE to see the continuation of the story in another novel. But i also believe there's a reason why mrs.Ono didn't write it yet.
The novel should be a labor of love, not because "well, the fans ask and apparently i have to complete the series as the story is left in the air, so i should get it done and off with it."
This is a matter of inspiration, a wish of heart.
No matter how much we ask, it won't help.
Frankly speaking, when reading the beginning of the last novel, i felt (imho alone!) as if her heart (and memory) was somewhere else.
Never got this feeling with her other novels before, whatever my reservations about them are.
It's like she lost the wind in her sails a bit.
If she suddenly caughts it another day - it's all ours gain.
If not...Well, thanks for what she'd given us so far. It will stay with us no matter what.
About the anime - so far they animated 4.5
novels out of 7.
I mean: Shadow of the Moon, Shore of Maze, Sky at Dawn and Sea God in the East. The 0.5 - i mean the substantional references to Demon son.
They can't animate the last novel The Shore in Twilight as it's uncompleted and they have to know how it ends to successfully adapt it.
So the only novel they could've animate is the Shoushou's story.
I don't know why they didn't insert it in the anime from the start and i really regret they didn't do it, as i'm very interested to know Kiou-ou story. She's such a great character in anime that i'd love to know more about her.
I still hope that some day someone will start to translate the novel, at least.
Besides, i'm afraid that the anime wasn't profitable.
So the lack of profits and the lack of novels are probably the main reasons for the current situation.
Of course, it never hurts trying and sign a petition!

ah no wonder after some time i felt that the number of people much lesser. Well i hav posted the petition link in hongfire and animenfo forum but the result still dissapointingcarmolita wrote:What happened was a lot of japanese people did sign the petition ,but their was a problem w/ the rockett board and it got lost/erased or something .-so this is in fact the second of 2 petitions...so sadly all those signaturs are lostNiwashi2 wrote:There's over 360 signatures on the petition already, though it's a bit disappointing how few of the signitures are from Japan.I know this because I remember houki posting a big thing about it on his bbs, and he asked everyone who signed before to sign again ,but it happened after i posted the link in this forum,,imagine my shock when yumi le/li told me there were only a few signatures when i remember their were quite a few pages recently. howeer their has been an average of one posting a day..I mentioned the link at a couple of other major forums such as Anime on dvd, and animesuki -but when doing that you have to be careful because of rules and restrictions -in this case i listed it as a source of information in one post and petioton in another and a lot of people signed-that's just one way of getting the word out..I chose those 2 forums because when you google 12k that's what comes up...If someone can post in anime news network forum that would be totally cool..
If you see shoku in front of you, what will you do?

Letting NHK about the interest the fans have for this series is good but what I would really prefer for the moment is to have a publisher like Del Rey to pick the novels for translation and distribution. Another good albeit far more difficult would be to have the series broadcasted on TV. That would surely help to buid a broader fanbase.
