How many people have you hooked on 12k?

Discuss about anything related to the Twelve Kingdoms, also known as 十二国記, Juuni Kokki or Jūni Kokuki. Talk about the novels, the anime, the writer Fuyumi Ono or illustrator Akihiro Yamada, but beware for spoilers!

How many people have you hooked on 12k?

Post by Mercury »

Now that I am a proud owner of the gorgeous boxsets, I've been showing them off to any of my friends who might even show an inkling of interest in the series. I've managed to snag two so far, and we're about halfway through the series, just finished the Taiki arc. I'm glad to say they are well and truly hooked. Unfortunately, that meant at least one night taking time out of a schedule that didn't have any time left in it. >_>
The two that are watching it at the moment have seen several animes, but mostly what's extremely popular at the time, InuYasha or Naruto. They're really loving JK as it's so much more than what they'd seen in anime before. It's a bit difficult to convince some people to watch past the first four or five episodes, as was the case with two of my roommates (they never got past episode 3) but for anyone else who stayed around, it was never a problem to keep them watching.

I've only directly shown the series to three people. All were hooked, two of them really liked the series. The third absolutely loved it.

I have been partly evangelizing it on other forums (I'm trying to not be too fanboyish about it...). My efforts might have snagged several viewers on animeNFO.com and on techimo.com. Though on another forum, I have started a silly trend of calling Rakushun (who I use as my avatar there) as a sexy beast... ;) I don't know if I've drummed up any interest there.

I might push it to be screened in the local Anime Club meetings this year...

four people :p not many but it's a start.

It's hard to tell people to start the anime when it's still "unfinished". But I still do it so I can fuss over it with them ;)

My sister, her best friend, a friend of mine and though I didn't get them hooked I certainly got a teacher and half of my class interested in the series last year. My goal is to boast about the series at Anime North this year and make strangers go and check it out

I have just gotten hooked in JK not too long before. I told my friends about JK and they like it. I am writting preview for JK now in accvn, a Vietnamese manga+anime community forum, because I can stand that nobody talk about JK in there.

Humm how many people would be hard to guess however I can say for sure at least 5+. Many I have directly influnced to check out the series by simply saying how amazing it is and giving a breif overview. Several people I know have gotten interested in the series from viewing my sketch gallery. However not all who have been to my site have contacted me so its possible my sketches have influnced many others to check out the series.

None so far. The reason is simple: my friends would ask me: So how's the ending? And I would have to answer: errrmmm and couldnt lie. There is no ending!! How can I promote an amazing anime without a proper ending?!

And the only reason I watched this anime was because a godd*mned friend told me it has a nice ending. I wrinkled my brows while watching the last ten episodes, half convinced that there's no way the remaining episodes would be enough to deliver the ending, and half trying to have faith in that ex-friend :)
