ummm... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Discuss about anything related to the Twelve Kingdoms, also known as 十二国記, Juuni Kokki or Jūni Kokuki. Talk about the novels, the anime, the writer Fuyumi Ono or illustrator Akihiro Yamada, but beware for spoilers!

ummm... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Sorry for the subject header but I'm extremely frustrated. So far, I watched about half the series. in extreme anticipation to watch the conclusion of the Taiki story arc... then of course, I found out the series was canceled. I have never been in a more state of shock in my entire life. The Taiki story arc completely captivated me, but know I'll never see the end of it. At first when I found out that the show was canceled, I was really pissed off. Now, whenever I think about it I almost *tear tear (well you get the picture). Anyways, thought I'd just post this to vent out my frustration.

I think that they never post the Taiki arc is because the whole story is not completed yet. We just have to wait for Ono Fuyumi to finish writing.

No need to feel sorry, I've spoken with others who feel the same. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to vent this frustration. I was so frustrated, I suddenly could read Chinese. I literally cut and paste every Chinese character into the online dictionary to read Shore at Twilight in Chinese just to find out what happened to Taiki. Boy! Would I not remember the 12 Kingdoms for life!

Unlike Inuyasha, episodes in the 12 kingdoms are not self contained story arcs. Hence, a firm closure is required for the 12 Kingdoms. I'm reluctant to recommend this series to others because it is unfinished. I could be blamed for recommending something so good but left hanging.

Even when the series is unfinished, I felt okay with the last episode. The story of the JK could be eternal because a world will have always stories to be told. But about Taiki's story arc, yes I was really frustrated because that part of the series was one of my favs.
In the other hand, talking about recommend this series, I'm very selective to whom I can recommend this, because isn't as any average series you can see outthere, not only because the ending but the whole story itself.

Translations

Post by fragile_bloom »

The following URL which I used is no longer valid, they took it off the web. http://www.fuyun.cn/book/8551/html/contents.html

However, this URL is still working: http://67.19.223.123/htmpage/66/6611/index.htm

Read "Shore At Twilight, Sky in Daybreak" and "Demon Child".

You can also buy the books although I don't know where.

There are ongoing English translations for these two books.

For Demon child http://tu-shu-guan.blogspot.com/

For Shore At Twilight… http://www.otyaku.com/animeObserver/TKAS/TKAS_menu.htm

The books won’t tell you what happened to Tai-Ou. However, they will tell you what happened to Taiki.

No. The site only translate halfway of 'The Dreams of Kasyo'. It don't have 'Demon Child', Drama CD--'8 Kirins'; 'The Empress Sisters'; and 'Beast of Earth'. It also didn't have 'Wandering'.

The other website have everything. Including directory, treasures of different kingdoms, geography, timeline, etc. It's a pity that it was taken down.

'The Dreams of Kasyo', 'Demon Child', '8 Kirins', 'The Empress Sisters', 'Beast of Earth', 'Wandering'???

Base on http://www.otyaku.com/animeObserver/juu ... fo_FAQ.htm

The title of the books are,

Masyou no Ko (魔性の子)
Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi (月の影 影の海)
Syoukan (書簡)*
Kaze no Umi, Meikyuu no Kishi (風の海 迷宮の岸)
Higari no Watatsumi, Nishi no Soukai (東の海神 西の滄海)
3rd time span Kaze no Banri, Reimei no Sora (風の万里 黎明の空)
Tonan no Tsubasa (図南の翼)
Touei (冬栄)*
Jyougetsu (乗月)*
Kasyo (華胥)*
Kizan (帰山)*
Hyouhaku (漂舶)**
Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora (黄昏の岸 暁の天)
* The five short stories in the short story collection "Kasyo no Ume (華胥の幽夢)"
** The 40-page story that accompanies the drama CD of "Higashi no Watatsumi, Nishi no Soukai (東の海神 西の滄海)"

The site you have provided translate the following books.

Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi (月の影 影の海)
Kaze no Umi, Meikyuu no Kishi (風の海 迷宮の岸)
Higari no Watatsumi, Nishi no Soukai (東の海神 西の滄海)
Kaze no Banri, Reimei no Sora (風の万里 黎明の空)
Tonan no Tsubasa (図南の翼)
Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora (黄昏の岸 暁の天)
Kasyo no Ume (華胥の幽夢)

Which mean the site basically translated all the major books and the five short stories in Kasyo no Ume (華胥の幽夢). Only left untranslated are Masyou no Ko (魔性の子) and Hyouhaku (漂舶).

there are seven juuni kokki novels and one short story collecton written by ono fuyumi, a total of eight books. that site has complete chinese translations (mostly fan) for six of those books. what's missing is 魔性の子 and all but one of the stories from 華胥の幽夢 (the one that is present is 冬栄).

漂舶 is a gaiden that came along with the 東の海神 西の滄海 drama cd. 八麒麟, 姉妹王 and 地に獣 are the three episodes of the 夢三章 drama cd, i.e. not part of a book. they're not originally written down, but someone transcribed a translation for them into chinese at some point in time.

all of them have been translated into chinese. it's just that that particular site does not have them.

if you are able to do so, i would encourage you to buy the novels, as they are now all available.

You are a Singaporean? What's the estimated cost of getting all of them?
