Samurai 7

Post by fragile_bloom »

Is anyone watching or has finished watching samurai 7? Any spoilers, I only watched till vol 3. Does anyone know who dies in Vol 4? How many volumes are there? I know there are 26 episodes.

I'm impressed with the action and music. Same composer as Inuyasha (Kaoru Wada). I'm in love with his music.

This will surely be one of my top 3 favorite anime although I have not seen the end of it. It won't replace Inuyasha as my favorite because no samurai character thus far up until Vol 3 is able to impress me more than Sesshomaru of Inuyasha, not even kyuzo although his fighting style reminds me of Sesshomaru.

I think a couple of them die.

IF you want a spoiler go rent the original the Seven Samurai by Kurosawa Akira. ;)

LIKEWISE ME

This could have become my favorite anime if Kyuzo had lived, I love to watch him fight in grace and elegance. He's fragile in appearance but inside, he's solid steel. I like his character. However, it is good that Kambei lives.

Katshiro rejects the priestess? :) I never liked either of them.

I would still purchase the soundtrack.

It was ok, not so great as it was in the begining, all of them just die it's sad. Didn't really like the romance between Kirara and Katsushiro

Characters

Samurai

Kambei: Highly experienced, educated, fearless and skilled, Kambei is the embodiment of everything a great samurai should be. Yet he is a failure. He played a key role in the Great War for the losing side. After the ensuing collapse of the samurai age, Kambei has felt “like an empty shell, a hallow remnant living long after serving its intended use.” No master, no cause. Ashamed for losing and for surviving when others died.

Fighting style: Calm, effortless.

Katsushiro: A fledgling samurai, too young to have fought in the war. He’s grown up feeling he didn’t have the grit necessary to survive in the world, and has devoted himself to bushido to fix that problem. He’s been looking for a master samurai to train him, and when he meets Kambei he knows he’s the one.

Fighting style: No formal training. Unrefined. Wasted energy.

Kikuchiyo: A man turned into a machine. Very strong – His massive sword and steam powered arms can tear through brick walls. But he’s not skilled. All he knows about fighting he’s made up as he’s gone along, by emulating real samurai. His embarrassing secret is that he was born a farmer, a low class, just like the people of Kanna Village.

Fighting style: Loud. Exaggerated. Showy with his battle yells and grunts.

Gorobei: After fighting in the Great War, and joining countless ranks of ronin samurai, Gorobei became a street performer, using his fighting skills to pay for meals. A dishonorable fate for a samurai, but Gorobei doesn’t care. He’s rooted more in the real world than ideals.

Fighting style: Medium. Not over the top like Kikuchiyo, not silent like Kyuzo. Always having fun. Every dodged attack is part of the carnival.

Kyuzo: After fighting in the Great War, Kyuzo landed a job as a guard in the Magistrate’s house. A rare master of the double sword technique, Kyuzo spends his days in silence, pursuing fighting perfection, having to listen to the Magistrate and his son brag about the end of samurai. He joins the team to test his skills and prove that samurai still have a purpose. Most of all to stay near Kambei, waiting for the day the two can fight to the death.

Fighting style:Calm, effortless.

Shichiroji: During the Great War Shichiroji was Kambei’s pilot and partner in battle. 5 years ago after nearly surviving a raid, he gave up the samurai life and settled down with a woman named Yukino and helps her run the Firefly House. He likes the idea of a quiet life, and tries very hard to live it – believing that fighting isn’t for him. But his taste for battle always pulls him back.

Fighting style: Effortless. Has fun in battle. Makes sarcastic wisecracks to his enemies.

Heihachi: A younger samurai, mostly self-taught and skilled machinist. If he did have any involvement in the Great War then it was as an engineer not in direct combat. Since then he’s been a lone nomad, going wherever he feels like, collecting machine parts paying for his room and board by chopping wood, another skill – he can use his sword to slice wood into toothpicks.

Fighting style: Medium. Little direct fighting. Usually running the machinery.

I love Samurai 7. It's really well made, and has great music.

My favorites are Kambei, Ukyo, Kikuchiyo, Shichiroji and Heihachi! Too many, hmm? :D I just love all of them, except for Katsushiro. <_<

Sadly the above is also a bot, no matter how normal his post seems.
