Big Question on Shoku in Anime

Post by tiaopiak »

While it's understandable why the director want to create Sugimoto and Asano characters in the anime version of JK. But it created a huge problems concerning the characteristics of shoku.

In the book, only natural occurring shoku can bring haikyaku alive to JK. But it is a one way street, since you cannot know when and where a natural one will be, thus no one ever can go back home. But if you create a shoku like what kirins does only sen with haku grade and above can go through it, anyone else will surely die.

In the anime version both Asano and Sugimoto both are not sen at all while crossing the shoku created by Keiki. Resulting in a lot of viewers asking why Enki never return the haikyakus in En back to Japan since he always visits there to search for Taiki. (Another good reason is that to bring anyone through other than kirin, it will need a 'big' shoku, thus creating destruction on both worlds)

It will also create a problem if the anime version wants to do the story of Taiki returning to JK. If anyone can go through a created shoku, then En-O will not be needed to bring Taiki back. any kirin that found Taiki can just grab him and bring him back pronto. No elaborate storyline like in the book on the difficulties of getting the Taiki back home (you have to read the book to understand).

Any opinions anyone?

I think the script writers screwed up  . When Keiki returned Sugimoto he told her there was no guarantee she would arrive alive. I think that was a bit of back-peddaling on the writers part. On the other hand, would that also mean that there was no guarantee they would arrive in the 12 kingdoms alive when he first took them over? But Keiki didn't say anything then. Making me think that Keiki didn't care about the lives of others as long as he got his queen safe and sound to her destination. Perhaps that is the case - he has vowed to defend her to the death and will do anything to save her. Could Youko's insistence that Sugimoto and Asano go with her have been interpreted by Keiki as an order, thus giving him no choice but to obey?

If they were to animate the Taiki in Japan story they would either come up with some complicated explanation for the previous crossings of Asano and Sugimoto, or ignore the discrepencies and carry on according to the book, or completely rewrite the scene so something else brings him back to Kei. Or some combination of all 3. Anyway, it makes me glad I don't write scripts :D

Hirose?

Post by tiaopiak »

I think the script writer will use Sugimoto rather than Hirose as the guardian for Taiki (Takasato) before being found. I rather no see that Taiki one will realise that his shireis has massacre his entire family in Japan. That will be crazy even for him.

Most likely the En-O (I think the writers will include him) will be there rescue Taiki and create some ideas that only he can carry out. Or just use Kei-O, since she through out the story is the main driving force to get Taiki back at all cost.

It was Kourin who brought Sugimoto and Asana to the 12 kingdoms, not Keiki.

I don't know how they will resolve the inconsistencies between the novels and animation if they continue with the animation because the rule that only senins can cross between worlds is a key factor in Shore at Twilight. Either they drastically rewrite the script for Shore at Twilight, change Tentei's rules or they hasten the seek and recovery process.

It makes sense to animate demon child along with shore at twilight because the later has very little action whereas the former is a horror story. Moreover, the events in these books occur concurrently.

Taiki wanted to return to the 12kingdoms. He told Hirose towards the end (cannot remember which book) that there is no place left for him in this world. Also during his conversation with Youko, he told Youko he prefered to be called Taiki instead of his name in Japan. Afyer this ordeal, Taiki is sure of his identity and where he belongs, unlike Kei-Ou. That was an ackward conversation.

I do not assume that Kei-Ou can retreive Taiki from Japan because Kei is still unstable. It was Youko who made En-Ou agree to help Taiki and lead the mission although En was worried he might violate tentei's rules by calling for a search for Taiki. Youko made use of En-Ou to find Taiki and to bail her kingdom out of the ackward situation when Risai kept begging her for help. It is very obvious, all her officials were against helping Tai.

Besides, it was Enki's brilliant idea to temporarily register Taiki as a citizen of En and En-ou had to fetch Taiki because he has to ordain him as senin. before Taiki can be legally brought into the 12 kingdoms.

Keiki brought Asano and Sugimoto using his Shirei. They landed on the coast of Kou and were immediately attacked by Kourin's shirei. She didn't show up in person until they had all landed (seperately) on the coast.

Sugimoto Yuka and Takasato Kaname (Taiki)

Post by tiaopiak »

Rather than Hirose who even in the end cannot even understand what is happening to Taiki. With Sugimoto, maybe she can convince the shireis that Taiki is safe with her and they do not have to kill so many people to protect Taiki (including his family and classmates). Anyway, the Demon Child story of JK is too much of a horror to put into anime.

Mass suicide and ghastly murder of Takasato family is too much even for an average anime lover. If not, the story will only be suitable for adult viewing only.

Since sugimoto can claim to be Kei-O's friend, the shireis might be more docile since they know the friendship between Keiki and Taiki is very strong.
