Burning question of the Day

Post by drifterx »

I just realized something, if all the people and monsters of Juuni Kokki grow out of trees, do they still have sex? If not, maybe this is why so many people are so miserable. :D

I assume so. . . Remember the "inn" Yoko and Yuka were almost "sold" to?

Yep all good points, I forgot about the prostitute slaves. Imagine that, sex without reproduction! Birth control? Pffft. It's all about pleasure baby! :D

Makes you wonder how it all works out, not just with sex but with parenting. Without biological ties, I wonder how they pull it off. It's like a whole world of orphans.

Well, prospective parents need to pray to Tentei at a Riboku. Doesn't seem like it's quick and easy to get a kid - requires effort. So, any children are your children - no "biological" tie but certainly is an emotional tie.

this babies without bioligical ties to parent thing reminds me of the old American cartoons showing birds carrying babies to their mothers. like in Dumbo?

Considering that you have to tie the ribbon to the Riboku and pray to Tentei, I wonder if the baby will look like the parents? While on the surface it seems that there is no genetic connection between mother and child, perhaps Tentei does create children that reflect the parents who pray for them.

It is really nice to be able to have sex without worry about birth control though!

Okay, there is no reason that people wouldn't get STDs. Disease is totally unreleated to procreaation. The virus or bacteria merely uses sexual contact as a vector to propogate.

On the other hand a Meikun could have the effect of reducing disease, just like they make the fields fertile so... if you are in a well ruled country STDs might not spread!

-__-;; wow. first it was on irc and now it spreads to forum. This topic is just so damn popular isn't it?

My view is that if you have too much sex and abuse tentei's good grace of letting you have sex without procreation, then you will be punished with STD (that oughta keep your pants close).

The bigger question is, if an emperor goes wayyyyy off the chart with his/her sexual activities, would he get STD or would the normal of his country get it? Seeing how he's immortal and is immune to all disease, the only punishment god can give is on his land and his people. Wouldn't that sucks if your emperor's having all the sex and YOU're getting the diseases that should be coming to him??

Regarding a Meikun reducing things like that, I'm starting to get a different impression of things from the show at this point. Despite the prayers and the general wisdom that a well-ruled kingdom won't have youma, Kei still has trouble with them. The land hasn't become more rich and prosperous yet. Most of the outward signs of a good leader seem to be as much from the ruler's good leadership itself, while things like a decrease in youma might be partly attributed to Tentei being pleased with the way the emperor or empress is doing eir job and partly to them knowing when to stay away from a country that's well-defended.

I don't think emperors have a special power that keeps bad things from happening. Rather, they have to work to bring their country into balance. At least, that's the impression I get.

"red alert! captain to the bridge" - "sorry number one, I'm on the loo... could you wait a minute?"

anyway... on Kei... I just kinda get the feeling that Youko isn't being told the whole picture and that because of many reasons, she's not really in control of her own country. that being said, Youma and bandits still roam the country-side.

Correct. There are a lot of things still not quite right about Kei. Episode 30 gives us a better glimpse of one of the reasons.

My thougths on the whole system has always been that a kingdom only calms down and becomes prosperous when the emperor actually do a good job of leading them down the "right" path (whatever the hell that right path may be).

It just seems kinda flaky for a kingdom to suddenly calms down after an Emperor shows up. If that's the case, whenever a kingdom starts to show ill signs, the people would be tempted to behead the emperor so that the kirin can bring in a new one then all will be well.

Actually the kingdom did calm down alot when Youko took the throne.

In Episode 22 i think the people are talking about how they where sailing in form Kou and as soon as they hit the boundry of Kei all the Youma disapeared so i think that when the emperror comes Tentie's Displeasure stops so the rain will be fine and the youma will start to disaprear and it goes back to being a normal not a cursed country.

At the same time it does not fix anything it just removes the curse on the land so that things can go well.
If your spirit has wings to travel, even across the breadth of a thousand million nights, imagination will guide the way and the gateway will always be open to you.

you also see in episode 5 how bad it is for Kei before Youko comes ... back?

no vegetation, nothing but rocks and dust..
after youko comes back, it gets a lot better.
