I was also really upset to see the hardcover edition MIA. 
I had waited to buy it because I was saving money for other reasons, but now I can't find it. This is really dumb. I'm seeing comments on other sites from as far back as May of people complaining of it being sold out everywhere.
I decided to take a chance and order it from Borders.com, who has it on backorder (4-8 weeks wait they're saying). Who knows if it'll actually come in, but it's worth a shot.
I'm not making the same mistake twice, so I pre-ordered Skies of Dawn.
