Episode 34 rants, raves, and spoilers.

Post by garamir »

There's not much for me to say... this was just an excellent episode. Everything's coming together, and we even get a bit of Youko-as-Kenshin action in the beginning.

I'm really glad to see that Sonshou is maturing. She's probably getting into a mess with this rebel group, but her heart's finally in the right place. Suzu... I just don't know anymore.

I hope the kid lives. There's so much death in this series already. :(

Ouch, that's torn it. Sonshou was talking about trying to get the attention of the Empress to make her see what's going on, but she already knows... but now Youko is majorly pissed off. If her enemies weren't such a bunch of bastards, I might feel sorry for them.

I wonder if Youko is going be able to handle the situation rationaly. She sure had a lot of shocks today - rumour that she'd been protecting Gahou, that she hadn't really trusted what Keiki had said when she was still in the palace, and now some people she more or less thinks of as friends have been killed, wounded and taken away. If Youko can't manage her anger, she could make the situation a lot worse. It'll be impressive I think if Youko can handle it well, instead of (say) making a bee-line Gahou/Shoukou sword first (though that might be kinda fun while it lasts)

It'll be interesting to find out what Youko's "real" personality is. Since she rather supressed herself for so long, I think her real personality isn't quite clear yet. However, the slap-down she gave her ministers before leaving the palace suggests she can handle tough situations, take control, and also that she has a sense of humor.

Some more comments:

Yeah, the sword-fight with Youko at the beginning was cool. Great episode, though sad.

I've been trying to figure out who Sonshou's saviour is - the too strong guy who can also talk with Mr Twitchy (Asano). He doesn't seem to have a Hinman, though that seems like the most logical choice... I thought he might be the bear half-beast who helped save Suzu and co from the bandits (which would explain how he knows Asano), but that doesn't explain how he can talk to Asano. He did say he was a merc anyway. I guess we'll find out before too long.

btw, does Sonshou have short-term memory loss? She seems to have forgotten that Rakushun told her the empress is out of the palace. Of course, Keiki is going just in time to pick up any letters. Apart from that, she seems to have bloomed, as it were (become an adult). By contrast, Suzu seems to be becoming more childish / bitter.

So, who is Enho really. Seems to me there's a good chance he could be that great sage - looks the part doesn't he. He's been in the palace before it seems. Time will tell...

Ahh, I can't wait to see what happens next. I wonder how Sekki and bro are going to react when they find out what happened to Enho. Will they blame "Youshi"? Sonshou and Suzu are both in places which have rebelious types, though currently unconnected (don't know about each other's existance it seems). I wonder if/when that'll change. And what is Youko going to do now? (in her current mood, I think she'd chew rocks)

Yes, but being the abovementioned, I feel we must also discuss the issue to death first... hehe..anyhow he used a bullet so he's gonna run short soon...
I feel the murders were a bit sad though, wasn't expecting that really...gonna have some messed up individuals here..no matter the outcome..

I protest...
It is unconfirmed rumours and hereby dismissable.
There is little reason to suspect a loon would be able to do this.

Well, according to my fine mathematical skills, he has used about 4 bullets which if the gun came fully loaded leave him 2....so his not outta it yet...
but I must admit..you not knowing makes me wonder when the sky will finally fall down on my head..

There is ONE thing i DO know from this ep.

I hate asano. I believe I made this statement a while back (when i tried to spoil the ep hahahaha), but i'd like to make it clear one more time.

Asano's a biatch. i don't care if he's delusion, psychotic, or just plain crazy. He shot that little kid. i hope he get slapped real good for this.

Asano harmless i think, Suzu on the other hand.... i just wish the heavens drop a giant rock on her head  but then again one of the reasons i like sugimoto was because shes the ignorant type that everybody loves to hate... now suzu pretty much taken up that role

also why you calling Shoukei Sonshou?

Aghhhhh

He made his own bullets dammit!
Asano doesn't exist in the novels!

He says in a later ep (37 I think) how he made the bullets.

I belive Shinkun is using insider info that we don't possess, this is unfair towards the masses.
I feel oppressed.

Hello folks. My first post here on your forum so... Greetings to you all ;)

For ep 34 i get the feeling that Youko is gathering alot of info from all around. So i think she's gonna nail em pretty soon ;) or hopefully anyway.

And as for Asano it feels kinda weird of him making his own bullets, due to the fact that he stated he only knew the basics of how it would be done and that he would need gun powder. which would state 2 things. Firstly that he lacks the knowledge to actually make guns and gunpowder (not like anyone can make gunpowder or bullets for that matter) and where would he get the gunpowder from? Glitch in the storyline mayhaps?

And does anyone else think that Keikki isnt doing very much? Since Ki-Rins are all mercifull n stuff like that wouldnt he naturally be more prone to doing something about it instead of getting shocked all the time?

They should just get a few testimonys of some eye witnesses n bring in the imperial army n get it all over with. but thats just me. Might have wrecked the storyline though ;p

I could have sworn I heard Asano say he made his own bullets... I may be wrong though :-p

The problem with your suggestion is that Youko does not possess the trust of her ministers. In fact, the majority of her ministers, including the Kakancho (Minister of military affairs) supported the false empress and is working against her. He is the one who commands the Imperial Guard.

Well they said the Empress can do whatever she wants. As long as she dosent upset the heavens. So why cant she just kick out the ministers n pick some new ones? =P I dun like politics ;p its not very reasonable. hehe

the thing is, she can't just do that. she doesn't know which ones support her and which ones don't. if she were to overthrow all her ministers, she runs the risk of getting rid of those who serve her well.

yeah, I don't like politics either. but it makes this show even more enticing ^^

Indeed! It's quite refreshing to see politics treated more realistically.

Well she has a general idea of whom is opposing her. And its pretty obvious that Shouko isnt gods little angel =p Atleast she should be able to get rid of him. If she dosent kill him herself. Which would be neat in my opinion ;p
