On Berserk...

Shifting gears....
"Here's what I received from Media Blasters: 'Initially we planned to make a box. It has since been pulled from release. Perhaps a box will surface at a later date.' So, sorry, not coming."

The current speculation and/or hope is that maybe they'll do boxes later on for each individual arc. Maybe MB can do something like SP's FLCL release (box w/ vol. 3).
FWIW, Guts is the "official" spelling per Miura Kentarou, Berserk's manga-ka. It's also the spelling found in all 3 of my Berserk artbooks.Ostsol wrote: It ends up being pronounced way to many different ways to make a diffinite decision on which is "right". I've heard Guts, Gatsu, and Gatts.

Yeah, TSRI's Shawne Kleckner posted this to AoD's Retail Forum a while back:Tentei wrote:

Well I've already watched up to Juuni Kokki episode 34 and theres only 5 left in the 'first season?' until the 2nd starts airing in japan.
I've no intention of waiting probably a year for Media Blasters to finish the first season. But since the show is so great I'm going to buy them all on DVD anyways.
Only buy the best, fu*k the rest.

Wait, what? When MediaBlasters did Kenshin, they were pumping out at least a disc a month, usually with five episodes per disc, or four at the least. At five episodes a disc, that's a little over half a year for the first season. Even if they did four episodes a disc, that's ten months. They won't be catching up with 12KTP, but they still have as fast a turnaround as you can ask for.Semmemon wrote:I've no intention of waiting probably a year for Media Blasters to finish the first season. Every OTHER month? God that sucks!!!
On the other hand i am really glad Media Blasters got JK. It may seem odd but i have really liked their dubbing so far. I thought kenshin was not badly dubbed and Bersek was well dubbed. I especially liked Guts and Griffiths voice. Maybe it is just me. I also like the spoofs they put in every DvD. It gives the actors a chance to play and when the actors have fun you get a better DvD.
Just my 2 cents.

If your spirit has wings to travel, even across the breadth of a thousand million nights, imagination will guide the way and the gateway will always be open to you.
QUACK QUACK!!!
QUACK QUACK!!!
Their outtakes were also hilarious. I like the Berserk dub. I shudder to think how the 12 Kingdoms dub will be treated. So many terms, so many character defining moments that require good voice acting...
Maybe it's just me but I just wish it will be a perfect dub or no dub at all. It's not one of those shows where you can push out a half-assed.

I kinda worry about the dubbing as well, but since I'm only going to watch it to see how they did, I really don't have too much of a problem.
As for the release schedule...I can live with every other month, mainly because that gives me time to save up the money to buy the DVDs as they come out. Admittedly, it's going to take a while before we get to anything I haven't seen, but I can live with that too. It won't be the first time I've bought a series after seeing most/all of it in a different format.
I'd also like to say that I'm glad there are still people fansubbing the series even though it's been licensed. It gives me the chance to see what will happen next while I wait for the DVDs to be released. Of course, there are most likely going to be some people who won't buy the DVDs, but that seems to be the way things usually are.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilige.
On the bright side, they'll definitely run out of SDK before Juuni Kokki, and then they can put out the rest of Juuni Kokki in a flash. Right?
Or maybe they'll end up like Kenshin(? Or maybe Escaflowne -- I forget) and realize that people are eventually going to start losing interest and put them out on a faster schedule toward the end.

And the box is back(?)
Well, this falls strictly in the realm of rumor yet, but for those who don't read AoD, one of the staff there posted this to the forums:
"I talked to Meredith at Fanime about 12 Kingdoms. Yes, it will have a box. Basically, they are see-sawing between 2 different DVD counts right now, so until that's solved you won't be hearing much."

(But IIRC I think you need to ge a registered user to access that part of the forum.)
