How much of the novels does the anime cover?

Discuss about anything related to the Twelve Kingdoms, also known as 十二国記, Juuni Kokki or Jūni Kokuki. Talk about the novels, the anime, the writer Fuyumi Ono or illustrator Akihiro Yamada, but beware for spoilers!

How much of the novels does the anime cover?

Post by TroyBagnell »

Just wondering how much of the novels the anime has covered, up to episode 39. I know nothing of the novels, and I want to have an estimate of how many more episodes I can expect.

I know everyone says there will be 68 episodes, but I've also heard that that's only how many are currently planned. :P

Look at this page for reference:
http://shop.kodansha.jp/bc/books/junikokki/

the first arc was covered by 2 novels: Tsuki no Kage and Kage no Umi.
the Tai arc was the Kaze no Umi novel, I think.
and the 2nd Yoko arc was covered in 2 novels: Kaze no Banri and Reimei no Sora.
the next arc about En was covered in Higashi no Wadatsumi, Nishi no Sokai.

so like, 6 novels total.

potential spoiler below
................................

The arc after this, I'm guessing, will be about Tai, covered by the 2 novels: Tasogare no Kisi and Akatsuki no Sora. If the anime follows the novels... the arc will also involve Yoko, Shoryuu, and an assortment of others and plenty of stuff happening that I think will take up the ~48-68 eps.

I'm glad (or will be glad) that they'll give more air time to Youko; I was initially worried that the other arcs would just move onto completely different casts :P .. Very interesting direction, anyway.
