He ruled hundreds of years ago. It's not defined any further than that so that could mean 200+ years, I guess. I'd love to know more about him as well.

i don't think she ruled a hundred years...she was chosen years after taiki's birth...probably, she ruled less than ten...i think, coz keiki has to choose youko in place of her....well, she is not much of the significance in the story...but it leaves a question...so it needs to be answered.....

King Tatsu-o ruled long before Queen Jokaku (Yo-o). Yo-o only ruled 6 years. Tatsu-o is mentioned several times as a beloved former ruler of Kei, but no information beyond that is given so we are all very curious about who he was. :D

Especially, since she is always being ridiculed and compared to him --are you sure it was hundreds of years ago that he ruled?[/quote]

I remember reading that somewhere else - I'll look around and see. Who knows - maybe I was hallucinating :? Although - maybe the translation of "A thousand miles of wind, the sky at dawn" that Eugene Woodbury is doing will give some kind of description of Tatsu-o.

Okay - I figured it out. Episode 39 - Enho reveals that he was the Hisen who seeled the monkey/water sword and he did it while serving Tasu-o. I would have to watch the video again to get the exact quote.

It was the episode where Youko, Enho, Keiki were having a private meeting. Youko asked Enho to stay in the palace and help her, and he says that it will be like old times to be back at Kinpa palace. The servant pouring the tea realized who he was and asked if he was the hisen who served Tatsu-o, and Enho revealed that he was. This was the last episode of the "Thousand miles of wind, sky at dawn", right before she made her first law.

Hey! Get over to Eugene Woodbury's site and check out chapter 3, it describes Tatsu-o. Of course, not as much info as we'd like  since we want to know everything! Anyway - he ruled for 300 years then suddenly went bad. But all anyone remembers is the good times so Kei misses him. Maybe later chapters will tell more :D
