Nope. Depressing, isn't it? Horrible shounen/mostly fanservice, bland series get all money and attention, and nothing more from this: My dream of seeing all novels animated is but a dead hope.

Sadly, same here. That's the reason I log in this forum so rarely. There simply is nothing to talk about, nothing new anyways.

The reason there isn't any more Twelve Kingdoms anime is that it is based on books written by one (1) author - Fuyumi Ono. She hasn't written any more books in the series recently.

Queens Blade could be written by any half trained monkey you have to hand.

Would you really want them to produce a new series of Twelve Kingdoms - written by somebody they transfered over from the Queen's Blade team?

Because, until Fuyumi Ono writes some more books, that is the other option.

There are worse things in the world than having a good series end.

...queen's blade.

I can't think up of a worse example of objectifying of women for pathetic losers living in their mother's basement. This world makes me sad.

They exist. There are plenty of examples where women exist only as prizes for the big strong men to claim.

As far as animated series go? Barring hentai, Queen's Blade has to be the worst, it's a bunch of personality-less dolls walking in fanservice clothes and getting rid of them in stupid battles.

At least hentai is hentai.

Clothing is mere decoration - it's what's inside that counts. What I think is far more important than the fanserviceness of the clothing is:

1) Are the women self-directed with their own ambitions and lives or are they prizes for the men to claim?
2) Is this portrayed as a good thing or does the writer think they'd be better off as Yamato Nadesco wives or sex prizes for the men?

In order to have an intelligent discussion about Queen's Blade, we'd first need to find some inelligent people who've watched it. Can anyone tell me whether the women in it are fighting because THEY want something or because their SO's or Lords and Masters want something? Are they fighting to become ruler in their own right or wife of king or figurehead or what?

And here we are, talking about Queen's Blade in the Twelve Kingdoms forum...

Which is to say, the furthest I got was the 1st episode. Nipples shooting acidic and explosive milk and explosive breasts was as far as I could take it...

We probably should move the QB discussion under general chat.

As for the lack of news about 12 Kingdoms, well, not much we can do without any more of the novels being written, or at least news that Ono is continuing it.

Good news!

I saw on another forum that there was a new 12 Kingdoms story printed in the 9/26/09 issue of yomyom.

Title: 「落照の獄」"Rakushou no Goku"
Length: 150 pages
Setting: the kingdom of Ryuu

Click here for info from yomyom's official site. (To see Google's sad translation of that page, go to http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... index.html.)

I hope some fan translates the story and puts it online, or we'll be waiting for years!

That is very good news! I've yet to find an English translation of thelast 12 Kingdom story in yom yom from last year, but in truth, I haven't been trying all that hard. I'd still like to find them!

Short story Hisho no Tori (Hisho's Birds) translated

o6asan did a translation of the previous 12 kingdoms short story that appeared in yomyom. I can't remember if it's against the rules to post links here, but I don't think these new short stories have been licensed in the U.S. yet, so I hope it's ok to post (someone please correct me if I'm wrong):
Hisho no Tori (Hisho's Birds)

I don't know what's wrong with o6asan's site, but sometimes I can connect to it, and sometimes I can't. It isn't the clearest translation, but I appreciate being able to read it and get most of the story. I hope someone translates the newest story!

finally some good news

well i read the translation in chinese but i'm no sure if its finish it starts with one of the judges reflecting on alcase about a man that has kill 32 people one of them a child of 8 this has outrage all the people in the kingdom since the child only had a few dollars on him everyone is calling for the killers death but the king says to leave it to the high judge who who i think is the prince anyways the killer is speared and at chapter 6 the parents of that child ask why he is allowed to live

the story is describing the break down of law and order and the kings apathy owards the people but i think there is more

I'm a fairly intelligent individual.
Although I never seen Queen's Blade it does look like something that I would enjoy.
I'm impressed that the women in Queen's Blade actually look like women.
Rather than the pedo loli jail bait that seems to be all the rage with animu these days.

I'm of the point of view that most anime is trash to begin with.
(The sole exception being 12 Kingdoms and a few rare titles such as Jin-Roh.)
As such I prefer my trash to consciously know that it's trash and to revel in it rather then over the top trash that pretends that it's deep or profound. (Evangelion, GITS, Death Note.)
I can enjoy these shows for the entertainment factor, but their pretentiousness is grating. Especially Evangelion. GITS does have some intelligent commentary, but the forced unnatural dialogue (Made even more unnatural considering that the philosophizing is coming from a sexy cyborg woman in a thong.)
always reminds me of why I can't really get into any other animu as much as I do with 12 Kingdoms.

Then again I have a vivid personality. I'm actually a thug in real life, but I'm entranced with Romance of the Three Kingdoms, & most other Asian historical fiction.
So it's only natural that someone such as I would be into 12 Kingdoms.
I'm still anxiously awaiting to find out what happened to the kingdom of Tai.

Which is to say, the furthest I got was the 1st episode. Nipples shooting acidic and explosive milk and explosive breasts was as far as I could take it...
Hah hah, yet again this does peak my interest.
If only because it sounds so over the top that it must be hilarious.
There's nothing wrong with being over the top for the sake of being over the top.
So long as the show itself is self aware that it's an intellectual wasteland.
(I'm assuming that QB doesn't take itself seriously. It sure doesn't sound like it does.)
